Inchinnan Development Trust

Inchinnan Development Trust Inchinnan Development Trust is a community-led organisation set up by residents to preserve and enhance Inchinnan's woodlands and greenspaces.

Please note that we use Facebook to share information only. Please get in touch at: [email protected] Driven by the concerns raised by residents, Inchinnan Development Trust finalised the purchase of local Teucheen Wood in December 2021. Bringing this long-standing, much loved woodland into community ownership and ensuring it’s preservation. We’re committed to protecting and enhancing this

woodland and exploring the wealth of opportunity it brings for our community. As the woodland has only recently come into our ownership, tree works are ongoing in the woodland and further maintenance is still to be completed. Please be mindful of hazards such as litter or glass and stick to the established pathways within the woodland. If you’re planning on visiting Teucheen Wood for group activities or outdoor learning, please get in touch and we can advise you on the safest way to make use of the woodland. We use Facebook to share information only so please direct any communication to our office via [email protected]. Since the closure of the tyre works, the park has continued to provide basic sports facilities for the community. But local residents always knew that these grounds, part of Inchinnan’s story since the late 1920s, deserved a secure and sustainable future.

Despite their history and potential, the site, home to multiple grass pitches, and not without its challenges needed real commitment, determination, and vision to transform it into something more.

That journey began when Councillor Nicolson connected St Mirren Youth Football Club, a Renfrewshire-wide club searching for a place to call home.

What followed has been a true community effort.

From day one, the Club invested not just funding, but countless hours of hard work to improve the pitches and support young people locally. Alongside Inchinnan Development Trust, a five-year journey of planning, design, fundraising, and collaboration took shape.

Together, partnerships were built, funding was secured, and a shared vision emerged - creating a space for both sport and the wider community.

Today, that vision is becoming reality.

Construction is now underway on a Scottish FA-standard pitch, featuring an environmentally friendly corn infill system - replacing traditional rubber materials. A more sustainable approach, without compromising performance.

This facility will become home to St Mirren Youth FC, while also supporting wider community use, including Bishopton Rugby Youth.

This is more than just a pitch.

It’s the result of resilience, partnership, and community spirit. A reminder that when people come together with purpose, incredible things can happen.

It didn’t happen overnight. It happened because people stepped up, worked together, and made it happen.

If you're on a similar journey - we’re always happy to share what we’ve learned.

Find your space. Build partnerships. Create your own field of dreams⚽🌱

🚧 Temporary Closure – India Tyres Playing Fields 🚧

Formal access points to the playing fields are temporarily closed while construction works are underway.

The contractor explored ways to keep the site open, but due to ongoing works - including open trenches, plant machinery, and fenced-off areas - it is not safe to allow public access at this time.

We appreciate your understanding and ask that everyone respects the closures while work is in progress. Updates will be shared as things progress.

🚧 India Tyres Playing Field - Project Update & Development Works 🚧

We're delighted to share that pitch installation is almost ready to begin on India Tyres Playing Fields!

We expect final planning approval from Renfrewshire Council within the next few days. In the meantime, you may notice some early activity on-site, including the arrival of setup equipment such as fencing and welfare facilities. Full construction will not begin until planning permission is formally approved.

This marks a major milestone for our village - a new facility built by the community for the community. We also recognise that change can bring mixed feelings and we want to assure you that we are committed to keeping you informed, minimising disruption, and listening to your concerns. If you have questions or feedback, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

A big thank you to students from Corseford College (pictured) who delivered our notice leaflets to neighbours as part of their work experience programme. Your help is greatly appreciated!

We’re also grateful to our community members for your continued support as we take this exciting step forward together.
