We've been a bit quiet while trying to gather information but wanted to give an update on the fence situation.... as some of you've seen JJA have withdrawn their application for the 3m fence. This is definitely a win for everyone in the community who wants to preserve access for all.
The council have approved a 1.99m fence. - After consultation, the council have assured FOCP there are conditions for the 1.99m fence including it cannot be locked, there must be a permanent gap for wheelchair and buggy accessibility and the community must be given clear notice of when there are not matches or training to allow fair access .
The temporary fence that is currently up was to allow the pitch to be reseeded and for drainage works. The temp fence was supposed to be down mid August. Communications with the council are underway to question why this has not happened yet. Holly Bruce raised this at the last whole council meeting, questioning when the community will get access again and the convener took an action to investigate further.
JJA still have permission to put a fence up if they so wish, but the local community will not be excluded from using the pitch.
We are hoping to have a joint meeting and will keep you updated on any developments.
