Felixstowe Sea Cadets Felixstowe Sea Cadets is a youth organisation for young people aged 10–18, offering adventure, leadership, sailing, and teamwork opportunities.

Cadets develop confidence, skills, and friendships while serving their community. Felixstowe Sea Cadets are located in the Drill Hall at the top of Garrison Lane, an ideal central location for the young people of Felixstowe. We undertake our waterborne activities on the River Deben from Felixstowe Ferry, a short distance from the unit allowing us to get Cadets on the water as much as possible during the summer months. Our unit is also an RYA recognised training centre for Power Boating, allowing us to train and qualify our cadets up to RYA Power Boat Leavel 2. Cadets can also study several different specialisations and proficiencies, some of which are taught at the unit whilst Cadets can travel to national training schools for others. On turning 18, Cadets also have an opportunity to join the Unit Staff.

If you think any of the above may interest you, please come and visit us to find out more!

A SUCCESSFUL ROYAL NAVY PARADE AT TS LANDGUARD

What a fantastic evening last night at TS Landguard! We were delighted to welcome our distinguished guests for our Royal Navy Parade (RNP) and to showcase the fantastic work taking place at Felixstowe Sea Cadets.

It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our cadets’ achievements, demonstrate their commitment, teamwork and discipline, and share our vision for the future of TS Landguard and Project Avenir. We hope everyone left with a real sense of the difference Sea Cadets makes to young people in our community.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the evening such a success.

The Deputy Lord-Lieutenant of Suffolk, the High Sheriff of Suffolk and the Mayor of Felixstowe- thank you for honouring us with your presence and for your continued support of our unit. It was a privilege to welcome you to TS Landguard and share with you the achievements of our cadets and our ambitions for the future.

Our Area Officer and District Officers- thank you for your continued support, guidance and encouragement.

Our incredible staff- thank you for all the hard work, preparation and countless hours that go into making evenings like this happen. So much goes on behind the scenes, and it certainly doesn't happen by magic (although the kettle does seem to work overtime!).

Our parents and families- thank you for your continued encouragement, patience and support. Your contribution to our unit is invaluable, and we are grateful for everything you do.

And finally, our amazing cadets!

You were the stars of the evening. Your smart appearance, enthusiasm, confidence and professionalism made us incredibly proud. You represented TS Landguard brilliantly and showed our guests exactly what it means to be part of the Sea Cadets family.

As Commanding Officer, I could not be prouder of what our team is achieving. Evenings like this remind us why we volunteer, why we invest in our young people, and why we are so determined to build a brighter future for Felixstowe Sea Cadets.

There is plenty more to come as we continue working towards Project Avenir, a better future for TS Landguard and generations of cadets to come.

Thank you once again to everyone who made last night so special.

THE WHOLE HOG – SUNDAY!
Well… it seemed like a good idea at the time! 😂
This Sunday I’ll be taking on the Whole Hog, which apparently involves running, crawling, climbing, getting muddy and generally questioning every decision that led me to this point.
As someone whose natural habitat is behind a desk, in a meeting or surrounded by paperwork, this may not be entirely within my comfort zone! 🤣
I’m hoping to finish looking roughly like I did when I started… although I’m making absolutely no promises about the mud, dignity or ability to walk afterwards!
The important bit is that I’m doing it to help support TS Landguard – Felixstowe Sea Cadets and our plans for Project Avenir — our vision for a new home for the next generation of cadets. ⚓️
💷 And this is where you come in!
If you can spare a few pounds, please consider sponsoring me. Every donation, however big or small, will help support the Sea Cadets and bring Project Avenir one step closer to reality.

If you’re not able to donate, sharing this post would also be massively appreciated. ❤️
So if you see me crawling through the mud on Sunday, remember:
I volunteered for this. Nobody made me.
What was I thinking?! 😂🐷
Wish me luck — and if you’re feeling generous, sponsor the suffering! 😆

What a fantastic evening at TS Landguard!

Last Tuesday we held our Unit Review, and what a brilliant evening it was!

It was a wonderful opportunity to showcase our cadets, their achievements and everything that makes TS Landguard – Felixstowe Sea Cadets such a special unit. From smart parade and impressive drill to the teamwork, confidence and enthusiasm shown throughout the evening, our cadets did us incredibly proud.

A huge thank you to all our visitors, parents, supporters and volunteers who joined us and helped make the evening such a success. Your continued support means so much to us.

BZ to all our cadets you should be very proud of yourselves! 👏

🐷 THE WHOLE HOG: TWO WEEKS TO GO… AND THE PANIC IS SETTING IN 🐷

So, apparently, in two weeks’ time, I’m doing the Whole Hog.

At the time I agreed to this, it seemed like a perfectly reasonable idea. A bit of mud, a few obstacles, some running, probably a bit of crawling around on the floor… what could possibly go wrong?

Now, with two weeks to go, I have several questions:

1. Why did I agree to this?
2. Who thought this was a good idea?
3. Is it too late to claim I’ve developed a sudden and mysterious allergy to mud?
4. Does *walking briskly while looking determined* count as running?
5. Most importantly… **where is the emergency tea station?** ☕️

My training regime has been a carefully constructed mixture of optimism, mild exercise and repeatedly telling myself “it’ll probably be fine.”

I am increasingly unconvinced.

But there is a serious reason behind all this madness. I’m taking on the Whole Hog to raise money for Project Avenir, our plans to create a modern, sustainable home for the next generation of Felixstowe Sea Cadets.

So, if you’d like to support the cause, please consider sponsoring me.

Every donation will help make the suffering slightly more worthwhile… and may also help fund the construction of somewhere I can recover afterwards. 😂

🐷 **Two weeks.**

😬 **Send help.**

☕ **Preferably tea.**

**Ready Aye Ready… apparently.**

THE WHOLE HOG – OCTOBER UPDATE! 🐷

Well… October is getting dangerously close, which means there’s no longer any escaping it…

I’m actually doing the Whole Hog! 😳🐷

For someone who is far more comfortable behind a desk, buried under paperwork, organising meetings and arguing with spreadsheets, voluntarily throwing myself around a muddy obstacle course seemed like a perfectly sensible idea at the time.

I’m now beginning to question that decision. 😂

On the 4th of October, I’ll be taking on the Whole Hog - a ridiculous combination of mud, obstacles, running, crawling and generally questioning my life choices - all in aid of Felixstowe Sea Cadets and Project Avenir.

Project Avenir is our ambitious plan to transform TS Landguard, providing our cadets with the facilities they deserve and creating a modern home for the next generation of Felixstowe Sea Cadets.

So if you’ve been thinking “I really should sponsor that fool before he hurts himself”… now is the time!

Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help us get closer to making Project Avenir a reality.

🐷 Mud will be endured.
💪 Dignity will probably be lost.
⚓ The Sea Cadets will benefit.

And frankly, if I’m going to spend a day crawling through mud, I might as well make it count!

Please consider sponsoring me and supporting TS Landguard.
