We will have spaces at Wilder Ways and Horizon Groups in September, please get in touch if you are interested.
For both teens (13-17 years) that attend school and those who are home-educated we run on Saturdays from September 2024 until the end of June 2025 and the group meets every 4 - 6 weeks, mainly on Falkland Estate in our Birchwood Camp or on another part of the Estate. Sometimes we have a day on the coast or at a craftsperson's workshop somewhere in Fife.
Next year it is likely we will be "out and about" more learning skills that strengthen our connection to nature and the land. We always have time for games and our core routines which helps foster our connection to ourselves and each other. Our sessions throughout the year are planned around what is happening in nature at the time, it influences when we forage, when we cook, what we make, what we wear, and how we want to reflect and explore.
Our Autumn term tends to be about harvesting and making, remembering the wonders of plant medicine. Late Autumn connects us to the time of the Ancestors and traditional crafts, Mid Winter takes us deeper into the importance of trees for our survival and it is the birds that bring us out of winter in early Spring. Foraging encourages more field trips in Spring and early Summer. Two-three sessions are payable in advance for each quarter of the year and cost £37 each.
For 7 - 12 year olds.
Next year we are running a Pre-Teens group for 12 and 13 year olds as well as a regular Horizon Group for 7 - 11 year olds.
Both groups will run weekly on Falkland Estate - the Pre-Teen group will run on Tuesdays and the regular HG on Thursdays.
These groups also run on Falkland Estate with days out around Fife. It is likely the Pre-Teens group will be out more than the regular HG and we will focus more on developing skills - examples include fire-starting, shelter building, natural crafts, bushcraft, tool use, woodland cooking, foraging, plant medicine, and green woodwork - the group will lead us to what they want to do.
Our groups are mainly home-educators, and some flexi-schoolers. Please get in touch if you would like more information about flexi-schooling.
