The countdown to Christmas 🎅 has started here at the Stables and it's time to get shopping 🛍 Did you know we have a fantastic range of books 📚 available for all ages in our gift shop? There's

🚫❗️ STORM CLOSURE ❗️🚫
In the interest of the safety of both staff and visitors, we have taken the decision to close the Stables café and shop today.
There is the potential for damage on Falkland Estate by Storm Babet which may mean blocked paths and unstable trees. These are being identified and prioritised as quickly as possible by the team
If you do decide to visit the Estate today, please
❌Stay out of the woods during high winds
⛔Follow all signage and do not access areas of fallen trees or tree removal operations
❗️Be vigilant and exercise caution, staying out of any area you think my pose a risk
✅Report any trees or hanging branches that you come across (we may not yet have located all issues, your help is appreciated)

🌲🌳TREE WORK PENDING!!🌳🌲

Just a reminder that some essential work 👷‍♂️ on some of the trees 🌳 on the avenue will commence tomorrow - Wednesday 20th September - weather permitting! 💨🌧💨
We're open as usual but please take care if you're visiting the Estate whilst the work is ongoing. Some sections of the car park 🚗🚙 at the Stables may be closed but the shop and café remain open - great news if you're in need of a warming coffee ☕ or some soup 🍵 and a toastie 🥪after a refreshing autumnal walk! 🍂🚶🚶‍♀️🍁

🌲🌳 TREE WORK ALERT - STARTING WEDNESDAY 20TH!! 🌳🌲
We love our trees here at Falkland Estate and do our utmost to take good care of them. Some of the lime trees on the avenue - between East Lodge and the House of Falkland driveway - have descending rot and we've been monitoring and maintaining them for some years in an attempt to prolong their life. Unfortunately the rot is extensive and some extreme pruning work is now required - both for the safety of the public and to retain these trees for a while longer.
Our plan is to reduce the height of these trees by removing the affected larger upper limbs, leaving the lower branches and foliage. We will then look to plant replacement trees between these, so that when the time comes to fully remove the large trees 🌳🌲 the younger trees will be established as a replacement.
Work will commence THIS COMING WEDNESDAY, 20th SEPTEMBER and will last a week or two. We'll take every possible precaution to make sure this work is carried out safely 👷🪚⛑ - there will be signage 🚫in place and the area will be cordoned off. We would ask that you please take extra care when visiting the Estate whilst this work is going on.

🌾🌱🚜 It's harvest-time here on Falkland Estate! 🌾🌱🚜
The next few weeks will be extra-busy for our farm team, with organic oats 🌾 beans 🫘 and barley 🌾 to be harvested. Some of these will be kept to feed our sheep 🐑 and cattle 🐄 with the surplus being sent off to be made into cereal bars.
Falkland Estate is a working farm so please be aware that heavy farm machinery 🚜 will be moving around, keep an eye on children and - as always - keep dogs 🐕🐾 on leads.
