Dear Exeter AhlulBayt Community,
Salamun alaykum
There are two major opinions regarding moon sighting for Eid.
The first is that if the moon is sighted in any part of the world with which we share the night (for example, the US), it is sufficient for us in the UK. This year the astronomical calculations show that moon will be sighted in the US so MOST LIKELY we will celebrate Eid on Friday, 20 March.
The second opinion is that the moon must be sighted locally within one’s own region.
As most of us follow the first opinion, we will hold Eid prayers on Friday, 20 March, with the following programme:

10:00 am – Dua Nudbah
10:30 am – Eid prayers
11:15 am – Refreshments
To accommodate those who follow the second opinion, we will also hold the same programme on Saturday at the same times.
Note: Fitra is obligatory for every member of your household. It is £6 per person and must be paid before the Eid prayers.
Eid Mubarak!
