DANGER!!
At the Playing Field AGM it was highlighted that mowing the grass is becoming dangerous for the mower (usually David Elmslie). When he mowed recently his face was
splattered by dog poo left in the grass by irresponsible dog walkers.
IS THIS YOU!
We agreed that drastic action must be considered for the safety of all the Playing Field users, especially children. Dog faeces can spread a variety of bacteria like Salmonella and E.coli, as well as the roundworm
Toxocara Canis.
Dog fouling can be a form of antisocial behaviour with penalties.
Owners could get fixed penalty notices or community protection
notices under the
Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and
Policing Act 2014.
Actions considered but not yet actioned, were that ALL dog walkers must keep their dog on the lead or even closing the Playing Field to dog walkers.
Don't let this be YOU. Act responsibly, take poo bags with you, watch your dog rather than chatting with your friends and use the poo bins provided.

Testimonials

I have practised yoga with various teachers and different styles of yoga for many decades, some good some not
so good! Nina is a brilliant teacher and knowledgeable about how the body works. For many years I have
suffered with scoliosis, which is helped with yoga practice. I love enjoying pain free movement after Nina’s class.
Thank you Nina
Trudi

I’ve been attending Nina’s Yoga classes since April 2018 and have vastly felt the benefits of her diverse,
challenging and thorough Teaching methods. The classes are always enjoyable for all abilities, which is reflected
by the popularity of her classes. As an added bonus, I’ve met a lot of lovely people. Yoga has physically and
mentally changed my life for the better. Thank you so much Nina”
Dave

I’m no longer a spring chicken and have spent much of my life doing strenuous activities. However Nina’s classes
prove I still have flexibility and strength and the exercises leave me refreshed rather than with the aches induced
by sports. She is very sympathetic to individual abilities within her varied sessions.
Mary

I used to wake & go to bed in pain most days then was diagnosed with Spondylarthritis. Someone recommended
Nina’s Yoga to me and I’ve never looked back! Nina is very caring and her hands on approach allows group
lessons to be tailored to peoples individual needs. Nina‘s holistic approach and advice has eased my pain and
flexibility greatly, I recommend her enough.
Stephanie

I have been practicing yoga on and off for 45 years. Nina is one of the best teachers I have had. She stretches
me and works on building strength as well as flexibility. I enjoy her classes.
Marie

I’d highly recommend Nina, she is a wonderful yoga teacher who gently guides you, brings in some yoga
philosophy and her amazing Feldenkrais training.
I feel so much more present, aware of my body and deeply calm after her yoga sessions
Kim

Nina is by far the best yoga teacher I have ever encountered, she is an expert in the art, science and spirituality
of yoga. She is always thorough with her class plan, has clear intentions and her class is dynamic, inclusive, with
the right level of challenge. She provides the perfect example for her students in her own practise and supports
us all to reach our full potential as Yogis.
I always leave the class feeling thoroughly worked, calm and energised.
Jenny

Having always avoided group activities I joined Nina's yoga class as a complete beginner with a certain amount
of trepidation. I need not have worried. Nina's differentiated teaching technique caters for all abilities and I felt
included from the very first session. Now three years later I do two classes a week and will be going on my
second yoga retreat with Nina next year. I feel with Nina's guidance I have fully embraced yoga as a form of
exercise as well as a lifestyle philosophy and have met interesting people who have become firm friends. I intend
to continue practising yoga indefinitely.
Helen

I have practised yoga on and off since the mid 1970's and can sincerely say Nina is most definitely one of
the best yoga teachers I have ever had.
Linda

I feel very comfortable in Nina’s class. No two sessions are the same. Each class has a unique purpose which
Nina explains and takes great care to be sure each of us are in the right positions to benefit the most.
The main reason I go and always look forward to Monday mornings is the complete sense of mental relaxation I
get. It is so good to give the brain a break.

BURWASH COMMON PETANQUE
TICEHURST v BURWASH COMMON – SATURDAY, 18 APRIL 2026
Match Report

In glorious spring sunshine, a depleted Burwash Common team travelled to Ticehurst on Saturday, 18 April looking to avenge last year’s narrow defeat by Ticehurst at home.

The Burwash Common team comprised: Alison and Peter Hayes, Liz and John Trigwell, and Halina Keep and Lindsay Green. Illness meant we were two players short and Ticehurst very kindly lent us two of theirs, Karen and Lesley, to make up the numbers.

Each pair played three games, with Alison and Peter, Liz and John, and our two Ticehurst “ringers” winning two out of their three games. Halina and Lindsay clearly needed more practice as they lost all three of their games, including a 0 – 13 rout in their third game. This meant that the match overall was drawn 6 games all, so perhaps an improvement over last year’s home defeat?

Many thanks to the Ticehurst players: Kim and Les, John and Trevor, Andy and Kev, John and Mags for making this a good competitive match.

Full results:
Alison and Peter: 4 – 13; 13 – 6; 13 - 6
Liz and John: 13 – 3; 3 – 13; 13 - 2
Halina and Lindsay: 10 – 13; 9 – 13; 0 - 13
Karen and Lesley: 13 – 5; 13 – 10; N/A

After the match, the Ticehurst players laid on a splendid lunch in the village hall which was much enjoyed by all.

Burwash Common Petanque needs more players. Petanque is easy to learn as it has few rules, and we can easily teach beginners the basics. You certainly do not need to be an expert (none of us is!) and you do not have to commit to playing regularly if you do not want to. Players can compete on an equal basis regardless of gender or age. Importantly, you do not have to pay to play. Interested? If so, contact Lindsay Green (07775 862846, [email protected]) to register your interest
