PLANETS Charity

PLANETS Charity PLANETS Charity helps patients with pancreatic, liver, colorectal, abdominal, Upper GI and NET cancer Help us to raise money to make a difference!

PLANETS Cancer Charity is dedicated to serving the needs of our regional population which extends from Lyme Regis to Bognor Regis and provides specialist cancer services to the 4 million people who live across Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset, the Isle of Wight, the Channel Islands and West Sussex. PLANETS ethos is based around two fundamental principles: Firstly, supporting our patients and their fam

ilies by working together as a “whole team” with the doctors, nurses and other medical staff using the motivation of fundraising alongside our patients to help them fight cancer through the positive energy that this camaraderie creates. Secondly, we use the money that has been raised to provide the “icing on the cake“ by funding things that the NHS otherwise could not afford and stimulating innovation in cancer care through research and the introduction of new treatments. PLANETS is more than just another local cancer charity, it is a motivating and unifying force that is changing the way that we approach the fight against cancer across the central south coast of England. Our aim is not just to save lives but also to enrich them in the process by helping the “whole team” to focus together on our shared goals. There are many ways to get involved in fundraising for PLANETS either individually with friends or colleagues or as a larger group! We would love to hear from you!

A huge thank you to , .goat and for collaborating to create our incredible LP24 cycling jersey and for going above and beyond in their support of PLANETS.

From volunteering their time, to donating 20% of cycling range sales, taking part in our virtual fundraising ride, and helping transform our patient wellness room, their support is making a real difference to our patients and their families.

The impact of partnerships like these reaches far beyond a single project, and we're so grateful for everything you've done so far.

There's plenty more to come, and we can't wait to share it with you. Thank you all for being part of the PLANETS family!

"Good news darling, I have only got pancreatic cancer!"

These were the words Anthony shared with his wife after receiving a call confirming that his cancer had not spread to his lungs.

While it may seem like an unusual response, Anthony explains how finding moments of positivity became a crucial part of navigating life with a cancer diagnosis.

"Be clear what 'good' looks like today. It may be different to tomorrow, or indeed from yesterday, but it's a way to find the positive in a place where you really don't want to be."

In his story, Anthony talks about his diagnosis, subsequent treatment, and the impact cancer had not only on him, but on his wife too, something many partners and loved ones will relate to.

We are delighted to share that PLANETS supporters, Clare and Guy Schwinge, raised an astonishing £140,000 at their Studio 54 charity ball on Saturday night, making it PLANETS Charity's most successful event to date!

Having generously taken on the challenge of hosting their own fundraising event in memory of Clare's schoolfriend Nickie, Clare and Guy poured their hearts into creating a truly unforgettable evening in Dorset. With more than 300 guests in attendance and a stunning menu designed by close friend and PLANETS patron, Lesley Waters, the event exceeded all expectations.

The evening was packed with glitz, glamour and entertainment, with guests enjoying an incredible auction featuring a range of exclusive and once-in-a-lifetime prizes. Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, including their title sponsors Oberon, EpicPrint, Handelsbanken, Preston Redman Solicitors and CG Fry and Son Builders, the event raised a record-breaking £140,000 in support of PLANETS and the patients we help.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Clare and Guy and their wonderful event committee for their extraordinary generosity and hard work in making the evening such a remarkable success.

We would also like to thank our wonderful PLANETS volunteers – Louise, Lorraine, Karen and Lizzi – who generously gave their time to support the event. Their willingness to step in and help whenever needed is invaluable, and we are incredibly grateful for everything they do.

What a memorable night! 💫

As part of Carers Week, we’re proud to share that colleagues at Blake Morgan LLP recently came together for a fundraising quiz in support of PLANETS.

The event was a great success, raising an amazing £1,190. This could fund a cancer support course for 3 carers supporting loved ones through a PLANETS cancer journey.

Caring for someone with cancer can be incredibly demanding, and these courses provide a vital space for carers to reflect, recharge, and focus on their own wellbeing.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and made this possible!

This week is Carers Week, a chance to highlight the incredible work of unpaid carers and the challenges they often face behind the scenes.

Caring for someone with a PLANETS cancer can be emotionally and physically demanding. Carers often put their own needs to one side while supporting a loved one through diagnosis, treatment and beyond.

At PLANETS, we recognise how important it is that carers have support too. That's why we've partnered with to offer a coaching programme specifically for people caring for someone with a PLANETS cancer.

These sessions provide a safe space to reflect, recharge and focus on your own wellbeing.

If you'd like to find out more about the programme, please speak to your CNS.
