Anti-Racist Hustings
Southside Community Centre, Nicolson Street
April 23rd, 6:00 to 8:00

At a critical moment for our communities, Stand Up To Racism Edinburgh invites you to attend an Anti-Racism Hustings ahead of the upcoming election.

With growing support for Reform UK in Scotland, it is more important than ever that we come together, get informed, and ask serious questions.

Nigel Farage is using Scotland as a launching pad for wider UK electoral success- and the consequences of that demand urgent attention.

Racism does not exist in isolation. It brings division, fuels hatred, and creates the conditions for real-world harm. It also serves as a distraction- turning communities against one another while those at the top continue to profit.

Where Reform UK has gained influence in councils in England, we have already seen attacks on LGBTQ+ Pride events, aggressive rhetoric targeting public services, and cuts to workers’ pay and pensions. If similar gains are made in Scotland, what protections do we have- and what comes next?

This hustings will bring together local candidates standing for election to answer questions from the community on racism, equality, and the kind of society we want to build. It is an opportunity to debate, to challenge, to listen, and to explore alternatives.

Join us to stand against division and to protect our communities and our rights.
Now is the time to be informed, involved, and united.

IT’S a familiar picture: migrants tossed on dangerous seas, only to face a hostile government as they look for work and a better life in the land…

The Government and Reform UK want to make settlement harder — extending ILR from 5 to more years, even scrapping ILR, imposing unfair "earned" tests, raising fees, and forcing people to renounce other citizenships.

Migrants already pay their fair share. This is scapegoating that tears families apart and divides communities.

5 years for everyone. Fairness, compassion, dignity.

Once we reach 1,000, we’ll start reaching out to MPs, demanding they speak up in Parliament, and mobilising for peaceful demonstrations to show our unity and strength.

The Government and some politicians are considering changes that would make life harder and less secure for migrants — extending the settlement route beyond 5 years, scrapping ILR, imposing unfair “earned” tests, raising fees, cutting support, and even forcing people to renounce other citizens...

🌟 Big news from EMCA! 🌟

We’re joining forces with Citizens Rights Project and Workers’ Observatory to create Migrant Justice Edinburgh (MJE) 💪🏾✊🏽

From Aug 2025 – Jan 2026, we’ll be part of the Regenerative Future Fund’s capacity-building phase — piloting a bold 10-year vision for migrant solidarity, community organising, and collective action across Edinburgh.
