Colinton Village Hub

19/09/2026

🦄 Every community needs a little magic… ✨
And our Hub has found its very own Unicorns! 💜
This fantastic mural, created by artist Chris Rutherford, was originally displayed on the hoardings during the work on Edinburgh’s North Bridge until completion.
We’re delighted that the Unicorns have now found a temporary new home here at Colinton Village Hub. 🦄
We love that a piece of Edinburgh’s story is now becoming part of ours — bringing a little colour, imagination and magic to Spylaw Park.
✨ And just like our Unicorns, we’re getting closer to our new beginning.
The Hub is taking shape, but we need one final push to bring the dream to life.
💜 Believe in the magic. Share the dream. Help us finish the Hub.

💜 ' Well, now that we have seen each other," said the Unicorn,
"If you'll believe in me, I'll believe in you " 💜
Lewis Caroll - Through the Looking Glass

We believe in our community to help us open the Hub doors 😊

A brilliant idea from our architect, David Moore, from MDA Studio Limited - Edinburgh Architect, who has come up with the Colinton Lego Challenge! You can enter the challenge and, at the same time, support our Crowdfunder by getting family and friends to sponsor a brick in your Lego model. There’s a QR code to enter and another to make a donation — so get building and help us turn little Lego bricks into support for a very real building: Colinton Village Hub!

The Colinton Lego Building Challenge is officially underway to raise funds to help complete the Colinton Village Hub in Spylaw Park for Colinton Village Hub

We’re inviting kids from Colinton and the surrounding areas to get creative and design a brilliant Lego building for their community.

What would you put in it?

Could it be somewhere to meet, play, learn, help or grow? Or could it be something completely different that would make your community an even better place?

Imagine it. Build it. Explain it.

Build your idea in Lego (or if you don’t have Lego , get creative), take 2–3 photos of your finished model and tell us a little about your building - what’s inside, who would use it and what makes it special.

There are two age categories, P1–P3 and P4–P7, with some fantastic Lego vouchers to be won, including a £50 Friendly Planet Building Prize.

Entry is a £5 donation per model, and 100% of entry donations go towards finishing the Colinton Village Hub.

We launched the challenge at the Bonaly Primary School assembly today, and we can’t wait to see what our young Lego builders come up with! The enthusiasm from the children today was amazing to see, so many hands up 🙌 asking great questions.

All the details are on the poster. Scan the QR code to enter your child’s model, and the family and friends can also support the fundraiser by sponsoring a brick.

Small bricks. Big ideas. A brighter Colinton.

We now have a temporary Hub mural, which was originally part of a much larger installation along the hoarding around the North Bridge construction project. It has been kindly loaned to us by artist Chris Rutterford - Artist of The Colinton Tunnel mural - we are most grateful!
It was great to have our project Architect, David Moore, and Joe McGuigan, Architectural Technologist from MDA Studio, helping to install the mural today. We are delighted that this fantastic piece of artwork now has a temporary home at the site of Colinton Village Hub.
