Another charity we are supporting this year is the incredible group.

East Kilbride & District Dementia Carers Group is a not for profit registered charity, run by a volunteer management committee that has been providing high-quality personalised care for people with dementia since 1990, as well as offering support to the carers of those with dementia. We also provide information, advice and training to the general public and other organisations to help give a better understanding of dementia.

Our daycare is based in a small homely building, which makes it appear more like ‘visiting a friend’ than attending a centre. We have a high ratio of staff and volunteers to service users, meaning that we can spend plenty of time with each individual who attends, getting to know them, their likes and dislikes, and building up care plans that are unique to each individual. More importantly, building relationships with them, earning their trust and supporting them.

Another charity we are supporting this year is one very close to our hearts and one of the main reasons we decided to set up PGF, The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice.

About The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice...

The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice provides palliative care and support for people living in South Glasgow and East Renfrewshire. Our palliative and end-of-life care services for patients, their families and carers are free.

We care for more than 1,200 new patients, their families and carers each year in the hospice, at home and in the community. Wherever you choose to receive your care, we are here for you and your family for every step of the way. Being referred to a hospice can be daunting. Our welcoming team is here to make the experience as easy and comfortable as possible.

✨ SAMH The Nook ✨

The Nook team is ready to welcome and support you and the people you care about. Our team has the skills and experience to offer exceptional support to everyone who visits The Nook. So please, come on in!

The Nook has been sensitively created to be a welcoming, comfortable and safe space for people experiencing mental health problems to visit. The celebrity interior designer Anna Campbell-Jones has been a key member of our team.

What does The Nook offer?
Information and resources: Self-help tools, resources and information about different places and people who can help, so you can find the support that best suits you.

Social connections: Wellbeing and healthy behaviour activities like physical activity, mindfulness, art, music and more.

Self-help sessions: Workshops, training courses, life skill programmes and group work, including peer support.

Therapeutic wellbeing activities: Wellbeing coaching that offers practical and emotional support to help develop effective coping strategies using established therapeutic and wellbeing approaches.

Talking therapy: Chat with a trainee psychologist who will use therapeutic approaches to support you, exploring tools and coping strategies for managing mental health. This will include cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and person-centred therapy (PCT).

Bookable appointments: There is no need to book a time to come but if you'd feel more comfortable having a pre-arranged meeting time, you can book online at SAMH Connect.
