Chief Officer /Senior Manager - Skills Exchange SCIO
• 37 hours per week.
• Salary Range £32,000 to £40,000 pa dependent on experience.
• 28 days annual leave + public holidays.
• Based in East Kilbride office with potential for flexible home working up to 2 days per week.
Role
Skills Exchange SCIO works across South Lanarkshire with local people who have multiple barriers to employment. We deliver training in employability, personal development, life skills and health and wellbeing providing support which is person-centred, flexible and responsive to individual needs. We work with a range of partners, schools, colleges, employers and third sector organisations with the aim of supporting our participants on their journey towards the world of work.
The purpose of this post
Setting /Agreeing the strategy and strategic direction of Skills Exchange,
To be Accountable to the Skills Exchange Board of Trustees,
Reporting to the Chairman and Board of Trustees,
Seeking and securing Funding via grant applications,
Developing and delivering the Skills Exchange Business Plan,
Management of Accounts and Finances,
Annual Reporting,
Engagement with external stakeholders including OSCR,
Internal and External Communications and Skills Exchange profile raising,
Responsible for day-to-day management of Skills exchange Staff and
contractors to ensure that project specific and all quality criteria is being met,
Developing and training Skills Exchange Staff,
Maintaining /improving Skills Exchange Organisational Resilience,
Support Skills Exchange SCIO to meet project targets,
Management of Training and Employment Tutors to ensure that project and all quality criteria is being met.
This post is central to our organisation’s core mission to provide high quality employability and personal development training and support to South Lanarkshire’s young people.
About you
Ideally will have line management /supervisory experience and experience of working in the third sector.
Experience of working with unemployed beneficiaries and supporting beneficiaries across a range of issues would be advantageous.
Experience of partnership working , working with employers and of Grants application would also beneficial.
You will be passionate about working with disadvantaged young people to help them build confidence and recognise their potential. You will have an understanding of the client group and the barriers they face and be able to quickly develop effective relationships and build trust to ensure engagement and sustainment. You will be comfortable engaging with a range of partners, including employers, to promote Skills Exchange’s services and develop partnerships to maximise opportunities for local young people.
You will be adaptable, self-motivated, organised and able to keep calm under pressure.
You will be a good communicator and team player.
You ideally will have SQA Assessor Award /L&D9 Qualification.
You will possess excellent interpersonal skills and able to build relationships quickly and effectively.
Excellent organisational skills are a prerequisite

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Person Specification

The Person Specification states the minimum knowledge, skills and experience required to carry out the job and is used for both shortlisting candidates for interview and to identify the areas to explore in an interview.

1 Experience :
a. Previous supervisory or staff management experience
b. Experience of working with unemployed beneficiaries
c. Experience of supporting beneficiaries across a range of issues

e. Experience of working 1-1 with beneficiaries
f. Experience of partnership working
g. Experience of working with employers
h. Experience of Grants application
2 Knowledge :
a. Knowledge and understanding of the likely issues and barriers faced by this client group
b. Knowledge of the current employability and training landscape and familiar with the Employability Pipeline of provision
c. Knowledge of local labour market information, training provision and potential progression opportunities
d. Knowledge of SQA qualifications and expected standards
Skills :
