Faith in Community Dundee

Faith in Community Dundee Welcome to Faith in Community Dundee (FiCD) page. Faith in Community Dundee is a SCIO. Scottish Charity No: SC050445

Faith in Community Dundee wants to address the high levels of poverty and social exclusion which are an historic feature of communities in Dundee. Its aim is to help build the capacity of people and communities so that they can tackle poverty in the most deprived parts of Dundee. We engage primarily with faith communities to help build on their commitment, resources and local knowledge. The origin

s of Faith in Community Dundee lie in the startling profile of the city as the second poorest in Scotland, as indicated by the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation 2004. This stimulated thinking about how faith organisations should be making some active, practical response to this and many amazing initiatives have developed since then. Covid 19 has impacted the lives of many, pushing them deeper into poverty and inequality across our city. Faith in Community Dundee have worked closely in partnership with many faith communities, local grass-roots projects and Dundee City Council to ensure there is significant food provision across the city.

🌟 Exciting News from Faith in Community Dundee 🌟

We’re delighted to share that Gill Bain has been appointed as the new Director of Faith in Community Dundee.

Gill brings deep experience in community development and a strong commitment to tackling poverty and inequality across our city. Their passion for partnership working, local empowerment, and supporting community groups makes them a fantastic fit for the role.

Describing how she feels about being appointed to the role, Gill said, "I am honoured to be joining this wonderful organisation. I'm excited to play a part in the important work they do and look forward to contributing my skills and helping strengthen the impact of the work they do every day.

I would like to thank Jacky Close for their leadership and the strong foundations they have built. Their vision and commitment have clearly shaped the organisation in meaningful and lasting ways, and I feel privileged to continue building on this work.

I would also like to thank Audrey Thomson as Interim Director for guiding the charity through this transition period with steadiness and care. I deeply appreciate their ongoing support during this handover period.

I look forward to starting with Faith In Community at the end of March and working to shape the next chapter for the organisation"

Neil Campbell, Board Chair, said, "We're delighted that Gill is joining the team. As Director, Gill will help lead the next stage of our journey - strengthening our support for local faith groups, building new collaborations across the city, and championing the incredible work happening in communities across Dundee every day. We're excited for what is ahead."

Please join us in giving Gill a warm welcome as they step into the Director role at the end of March. πŸ‘
