Welcome to Faith in Community Dundee (FiCD) page. Faith in Community Dundee is a SCIO. Scottish Charity No: SC050445

Faith in Community Dundee wants to address the high levels of poverty and social exclusion which are an historic feature of communities in Dundee. Its aim is to help build the capacity of people and communities so that they can tackle poverty in the most deprived parts of Dundee. We engage primarily with faith communities to help build on their commitment, resources and local knowledge. The origins of Faith in Community Dundee lie in the startling profile of the city as the second poorest in Scotland, as indicated by the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation 2004. This stimulated thinking about how faith organisations should be making some active, practical response to this and many amazing initiatives have developed since then. Covid 19 has impacted the lives of many, pushing them deeper into poverty and inequality across our city. Faith in Community Dundee have worked closely in partnership with many faith communities, local grass-roots projects and Dundee City Council to ensure there is significant food provision across the city.

Last night we had the first session of our new Interfaith Womens Group. We had 20 women come along to do henna, candle painting, origami, arabic calligraphy and mandala colouring in. Lots of ideas for future sessions so watch this space for future dates and activities!

We were honoured to be invited along to the official opening of the Dundee Covid Memorial Garden today. Such a lovely place to reflect. We are thankful to be mentioned on the plaque at the entrance for our involvement.

Our Women's Interfaith Night is next week! ✨

A free evening for women of different faiths to come together through arts, crafts, culture and conversation.

Date: 19 October 2026
Time: 6-8pm
Venue: Quakers Meeting House, Whitehall Crescent, Dundee, DD1 4ER

There will be a range of art activities on the night including; origami, candle decorating, mandela painting, Arabic calligraphy, henna and gratitude cards🎨

We are also seeking volunteers to join our steering group to support this event, and future events. If you would like to get involved, please get in touch.

It's been a busy week for us during !

After the Challenge Poverty Week Lecture on Monday and launch of the Worrying About Money Leaflet on Tue, we attended
Boomerang yesterday for a community event which brought together members of the public with organisations from across the city, alongside Dundee City Council, to find out what local support is available for a wide range of issues, including our WAM leaflet

We were thrilled to launch the Worrying About Money leaflet today as part of and we thank everyone who attended and supported the event, including Dundee City Council

The leaflet originated in Dundee in 2018 and is now in local authorities across the UK, and we are so excited to partner with The Independent Food Aid Network to continue its development locally and make it available across the city

A good start to today. Danny and James joined the Challenge Poverty Week Lecture with Prof. Stephen Sinclair discussing the 10th edition of Poverty in Scotland, while Katie joined the Joseph Rowantree Foundation (JRF) Poverty in Scotland 2026 online report launch, focusing on understanding child poverty and the latest Poverty in Scotland report launch.

A valuable opportunity to gain a deeper insight into the realities of poverty and think about the key priorities to take forward.
