The sound of the Igbo Oja - our traditional flute, symbolizes far more than music. It is a powerful cultural instrument of communication, identity, and ceremony in Igbo culture.

The Oja can “speak.” Skilled players use it to mimic the tonal patterns of the Igbo language—sending messages to the community, praising individuals who have excelled or made meaningful impact, and calling people to attention during important gatherings. In many ways, it serves as a true musical voice.

It is often played during royal and traditional ceremonies such as chieftaincy title rites, in the presence of Igwe (kings), elders, and at significant cultural events adding honour, depth, and meaning to every moment.

The Oja is a voice of culture, a call to unity, and a reminder of who we are. Even far from home, our heritage still speaks… and we proudly answer.

Dundee indeed felt a touch of Igbo land at the Dundee Get Together Event. ❤️

Our women showed up energetic, elegant, powerful, and deeply rooted in who we are as Ndi Igbo.

The Egwu Ukwu is a symbol of our cultural identity and every step was felt by everyone that gathered to celebrate diversity and inclusion at the Dundee get together.

We celebrate our women. We celebrate our culture. We celebrate us.

Just when Dundee thought they had seen it all from our women, The MEN said chere go di nu..."Hold Up"

And what followed was a memorable, high-energy dance performance that had everyone cheering!

From their strength to style, rhythm to pure joy, our men stepped out with confidence and gave us one dor the books.

The Odogwu's played their part very well🙌🙌
