🌍♻️ Keeping Clothes Out of Landfill ♻️🌍

Have you spotted our latest window display?

We were delighted to work with Primary 4 at Newton Primary School as part of their clothing sustainability project. The pupils have been exploring ways to reduce clothing waste and learning how charity shops help give pre-loved items a second life, keeping them in use and out of landfill.

The T-shirts, bags and posters on display were designed and created by the pupils themselves. We think they have done an amazing job, producing colourful, creative and thought-provoking work that highlights the importance of reusing, repairing and recycling clothing.

A huge thank you to all the pupils and staff at Newton Primary for allowing us to showcase their fantastic work in our window.

🏴⚽️World Cup fever has arrived in our charity shop window! From tartan and kilts to Saltires, football boots and Scottish-inspired treasures, we’ve dressed our display in celebration of Scotland’s World Cup 2026 campaign.

Pop by to see our Scottish-themed display, pick up a bargain, and support a great cause while cheering on Scotland! 🏴⚽💙

We’ve had some wonderful donations arrive this week, including lots of lovely wool in a variety of colours and a brand-new pair of Nike trail trainers, size 9.5.

Whether you’re looking for your next knitting project or a great pair of trainers, pop in and take a look – and try them on!

Our picture gallery has recently been refreshed with some lovely donated artwork, including colourful harbour scenes, delicate watercolours and beautiful woodland prints.

🌟 Happy Volunteers' Week 2026! 🌟

This week, we're celebrating the incredible volunteers who are at the heart of The Giving Tree.

From welcoming visitors and sorting donations to creating displays and helping the shop run smoothly, our volunteers give countless hours of their time to support The Giving Tree, and we are incredibly grateful.

We're also grateful to those working behind the scenes who you may not always see, including our dedicated Board of Trustees, who generously give their time to support the ongoing work of The Giving Tree.

We kindly ask that all items are clean, complete and in good condition.

When you donate to The Giving Tree, you're doing much more than passing on unwanted items.

This year, the small community grants funded from shop profits have helped local groups by providing items including tents, goal posts and planters for schools and youth organisations.

Shop profits also help support the work of Duncan Hospital Charitable Trust in India. With your support we have raised enough money to train 2 nurses and helped to provide a basic education and a daily meal for 50 street children living in the vicinity of the hospital.

Your donations make a BIG impact in the local community and beyond.
