A big thank you to everyone who attended our Annual Meeting last night. I was delighted to see new members joining and existing members continuing their membership. Hopefully the remaining members who have not rejoined yet will do so and join us in our 100th year.
I ended my address with the following quote from Winnie the Pooh! I hope you will embrace it x
ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU ARE
BRAVER THAN YOU BELIEVE
STRONGER THAN YOU SEEM
SMARTER THAN YOU THINK YOU ARE AND
LOVED MORE THAN YOU KNOW

Today is International Women’s Day and your local WI continues to empower women.

IWD is a powerful reminder of the achievements of women worldwide and a call to action for gender equality.

Collective action is what makes International Women's Day impactful, so make IWD your day and do what you can to truly make a positive difference for women.

Our members Val and Jane joined an all women group clearing scrub and making dead hedges at St Aidan's, to celebrate International Women's Day!!

The Women’s Institute (WI) was formed in 1915 following the war to revitalise communities and empower women. The ethos remains the same albeit a more progressive. This year Norton WI celebrates its centenary in September and continues to support local women. Membership from April 2026 – March 2027 is £54 for the year and offers a variety of speakers and activities to suit all interests. It is a great opportunity to be part of something bigger as well as getting involved in the community.

Lovely Laura from Medical Detection Dogs gave a very interesting and informative talk last night followed by lovely social time for our members and visitors
The dogs that they train are very clever and I’m sure their work will become more widely used in the future
I have had personal experience of my own dog being perceptive to illness so listen to your pet if they start to exhibit unusual caring behaviour to you
It could save your life! 🐾
