South Yorkshire Community Woodlands

South Yorkshire Community Woodlands Green spaces at New Park Springs, Cudworth Common, Phoenix Park, Brodsworth, Bentley, Kiveton and Dinnington.

These important green spaces have been created over the last 20 years through the reclamation and landscaping of former coal mining sites. The sites have been transformed to create a vibrant mosaic of landscapes and habitats including wetlands, woods, heaths, meadows and park land. These habitats support a wide range of wildlife and particularly, a large number of birds including buzzards, several

species of owl, and a wide range of song birds and ground nesting birds. The sites are owned by the Land Trust and managed in partnership with The Conservation Volunteers.

Are you interested in finding out what volunteering is all about?

Then why not stop by Dinnington Community Woodland (S25 4DY) tomorrow (4th June) between 10am and 1pm and meet some of the Dinnington Conservation Volunteer Group. Volunteering is not just about completing tasks, it’s also about socialising with like-minded people, and we always provide tea and biscuits for a mid-morning break.

If you want to find out more about volunteering with the South Yorkshire Community Woodland Team, then send us a message or give us a call and we will be happy to answer any questions.

🌿 Important Notice 🌿

As we head into Summer, we’d like to remind visitors that swimming is NOT permitted at any of our sites and to take precautions to prevent fires, helping us protect both people and the natural environment.

During dry conditions, our green spaces and wildlife are more vulnerable, so we kindly ask everyone to take extra care when visiting:
❌ Please don’t enter the water
❌ Do not use BBQs
❌ Do not light bonfires or campfires
🔥 Report any signs of fire by calling 999

These actions help safeguard local habitats, protect wildlife, and keep our spaces safe for everyone to enjoy. The wellbeing of our visitors and the natural environment is always our priority, so please plan ahead and take care during hot weather.

For weather updates, visit the Met Office website.
