Our reflections on the first year of our 2025-30 strategy continues today with a focus on how we're making progress against our access and inclusion commitments. We're incredibly proud that we've increased our reach so that:

19% of volunteers identified as having a disability
33% of volunteers came from ethnic minority backgrounds
24% of the sites where TCV delivered work and 22% of volunteers live within the UK’s 20% most deprived areas.

These aren’t just statistics to us; they demonstrate the importance of ensuring that opportunities to volunteer, develop skills and improve wellbeing through nature are accessible to a broad range of people and communities.

From restoring nature and tackling biodiversity challenges to improving wellbeing and strengthening communities, the power of volunteering continues to prove that better nature really can mean a better future for all.

We've just launched the latest I Dig Trees Impact Report!

Thanks to the phenomenal collective effort of volunteers, community groups, donors, partners and supporters, more than 4.5 million trees have now been planted and 4,808 pocket forests created across the UK.

The report celebrates what we've achieved together, while looking ahead to the future. Discover how our developing I Dig Trees app is helping us move from planting to protecting, building a clearer picture of the long-term benefits trees bring for climate, wildlife and communities.

Before they leave for university, make time for what matters most.

Between accommodation plans, packing lists and preparing for a new chapter, it's easy to focus on the practicalities. But a strong sense of home, belonging and connection can help young people take their next step with confidence.

Our latest blog explores how volunteering with TCV can help parents, grandparents and carers spend meaningful time with their teen before university, creating opportunities for conversation, shared experiences and connection, while helping create better nature for all.

As we continue to reflect on the first year of our strategy, we're celebrating the extraordinary difference our teams are making to people's lives.

Through the support of our partners, donors and supporters, TCV provides opportunities for people to muddy their boots and give their time to nature. The results speak for themselves:

🌿 99% say their experience with TCV is good or excellent
🌿 97% feel more connected to nature
🌿 97% say their wellbeing has improved
🌿 96% have learnt new skills

And the real impact is best expressed in their own words:

💬 "I really look forward to coming each week and I see it as a form of therapy for me."
💬 "I like improving my knowledge of the natural world through practical work."
💬 "I would recommend the TCV for anybody recovering from mental health issues."
💬 "An inspiring organisation! The team are so kind and welcoming."

We're proud to see these outcomes becoming reality through the dedication of our volunteers and staff.

Thank you to everyone helping create better nature for all 💚

We're incredibly proud to see our colleagues at TCV Hollybush shortlisted for the Everyday History Heroes 2026 awards! 🌟

This national celebration recognises the organisations, places and people keeping local history alive, and Hollybush's work connecting communities with nature and heritage is a fantastic example of that.

If successful, the £1,000 prize would help the team improve accessibility in the woodland garden and create a permanent, family-friendly nature trail exploring the connections between local history, trees and plants.

Please show your support and cast your vote! Voting closes at midnight on 1 September: 👉 https://buff.ly/R1XUioW
