This week we're sharing the amazing achievements of our volunteers as we celebrate the act of giving time to nature during 🥳

We couldn't let the week go by without mentioning Gareth!

Gareth is an incredible longstanding volunteer who recently passed the milestone of completing his 1,001st volunteering session with TCV Scotland.

That's 1,001 days of his time he has dedicated to protecting and restoring nature. During this time, he'll have made a huge impact on his local green spaces for his community, but also he'll have felt the brilliant benefits of volunteering and connecting with nature himself.

A couple of months ago, Gareth was presented with a certificate and a special commemorative plaque, which will be installed on a new bug hotel. We celebrated Gareth's award during a visit with our fantastic partners NatureScot.

Bo Couch, Senior Project Officer who works closely with Gareth said: It’s difficult to know where to start about Gareth. Gareth has been the backbone of the mid-week group in Glasgow for 12 years getting involved in every task we have undertaken.

"Gareth remembers all the group leaders there have been in these years and often meets them out on site as we all stay in the same industry and paths cross. Gareth remembers all the volunteers that have progressed through TCV and are now staff members. Gareth knows all the site he has visited and can give me background on sites and what tasks have happened on them if I have not seen them before.

"Gareth is a valued member of the team and is always willing to help others, such as new volunteers, by passing on skills Gareth has learned in his years of experience."

Today during we’re celebrating and saying a huge thanks to our incredible corporate partners, who support the work of TCV through their corporate volunteering days 💚

To every amazing corporate volunteer who has rolled up their sleeves to help protect and restore nature - thank you! You are creating better nature for all.

We're shining a light on Centrica as an example of impactful partnership work. We've worked together for 3 years and a recent employee feedback survey showed that a fantastic 99% of all corporate volunteers we had worked with felt as though they'd made a tangible difference to the project, enjoyed their community day and would recommend the experience to a colleague.

In 2025 alone through 39 days of volunteering as part of Centrica's People & Planet Plan, an incredible 566 individual volunteers joined TCV conservation activities on 14 different green spaces nationwide.

This is a huge difference made by Centrica's teams!

And it was great to hear such positive feedback from the volunteers too:

'We found the day exceptionally great for team building. All came away feeling we made a difference to the local community and it was great giving back'.

'It was a great day being able to get out and make a difference within the environment. I enjoy getting outside and making community spaces all that bit better for people to enjoy'
