Last month we told you about our new community event Viking 1,2,3,4,5k - Move Your Way, that is being held on 27th June in Gainsborough.

This event has been inspired by our own community, with a focus for people living with long-term health conditions or those facing barriers to getting active.

There’s no set distance to complete. You can choose to do 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 kms — and you can decide on the day what feels right. Change your mind halfway? That’s absolutely fine too. We're also not timing the event.

If you do live with a long term health condition or face barriers to getting active and feel an ‘event’ may not be for you… we are here to say ‘it is!’ and we will be doing our very best to make sure everyone has a fantastic time!

But, we need your help please! (And we know how fab you all are at helping out). We want to make sure that as many people with long term health conditions know about this event and come along and join us on the day to complete their own personal challenge.

So, do you know of any groups/ charities / clubs / homes in and around the Gainsborough area who might like to involved and come and join us on the day? If you do, can you let them know about this fantastic event or let us know who they are by dropping an e-mail to [email protected] and we can reach out to them.

It would be great if we can get the word out to them about this event and how amazing this day is going to be. We can't wait to see everyone there, and we will be d**g our very best to make sure a fantastic time is had by all 😊

A great turn out for our March meet up this morning, despite the windy weather (although the sun did make an appearance 😁 )
It was great to see our friends from Active Together again, along with some of their members 💙

Really lovely to see a mix of familiar faces and new faces, all coming together to move in the fresh air 💙

Our friends at Curly's have a new event on the calendar...The Viking Move Your Way event on Saturday 27th June!

This inclusive event is being built for people with long term health conditions to join in and challenge themselves.

There’s no set distance to complete. You can choose to do 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 kilometres — and you can decide on the day what feels right. Change your mind halfway? That’s absolutely fine too. Walk, run, wheel, participate however you need. Curlys are open to suggestions for how best to design this event.

The event won't be timed but there will be a special Viking themed medal for participants 🏅

Take a look for further info https://curlysathletesfoundation.co.uk/viking-12345k

Welcome to the Viking 1,2,3,4,5k - Move your Way !

We can't tell you how excited we are to tell you about this brand new event. Inspired by so many of our athletes across our community who live with long term health conditions, and who have already achieved so many amazing accomplishments - we have listened (and will continue listening) -and we have created an event for people living with long term health conditions or facing barriers to getting active.

And we want to welcome everyone to join us on 27th June 2026 (yes, its a Saturday), for a fun day and for you to achieve your own personal goal!

It is a privilege to be working with the team from West Lindsey District Council, who are as passionate as we are to support this event and have it benefit some of the estimated 67% of their residents who have at least one long term health condition.

There is no set distance to complete - you choose 1,2,3,4,or 5 kilometers, and you can wheel it, walk it, jog it, run it, take breaks, go at your own pace and enjoy it. You can decide your distance on the day during the event - its entirely your choice :)

The route starts and finishes in Gainsborough from The Venue at the Roses Sports Ground and then we are out and back on the riverside path along the Trent.

At the finish we will have a special treat and an awesome Viking themed medal waiting for you!

We hope that you are as excited about this event as we are - we want to say to everyone who has thought that an ‘event’ is not for me - that ‘it is’ and we will be so happy to see you there!

Curly’s work on a principle of ‘Be Better, Not Perfect’ in everything we do… this keeps us moving forward but we are not afraid that things aren’t 100%.... they are always 100% fun (obs!) We have been personally inspired by amazing people taking part in our events with long term health conditions, so we thought we can do things better, we can focus, learn and see how we can make active events better for everyone.
So it may not be perfect... but we will do our very best together to create something awesome!

Today's parkrun is cancelled unfortunately due to the poor ground conditions from all of that wet weather. Apologies for anyone travelling in!
Fingers crossed for a drier couple of weeks and we'll see you all at the end of March 💙

Saturday 28 February - event cancelled ‼️

We have completed an early course check this morning and, after the rain last night and this morning, the course is unsafe and we are cancelling today’s parkrun.

The risk of people slipping and falling is too great.

We are very disappointed to have to cancel again. We really hope to see you all again soon.
