We are proud to support ! Ageism affects so many of the people we work with every day - it's time to challenge the assumptions and stereotypes that hold people back, whatever their age. 💙

🎉 It's Age Without Limits Day! 🎉

Today is all about questioning common assumptions about age and ageing, because when we question ageism, we challenge it. And the more we challenge it, the more we start to change it.

If you're looking for last minute ways to get involved, you could:
- Share one of our posts and add your own thoughts about what questioning ageism means to you, or choose an ageist stereotype (like 'can't teach an old dog new tricks') and share why you want to challenge it. ✍️
- Talk to your friends, family and neighbours about ageing and ageism! Use our handy conversation starters on our website for some prompts and questions like, 'what do we mean when we say ‘act your age‘?' and 'Why do we say ‘you look good for your age‘? Why not just ‘you look good’?' 💬

If you're hosting an event today or this week, we can't wait to see what you get up to! Make sure to tag us using and , and thank you so much for getting involved.

Together, we can create a future free from ageism.

❤️ Last week, BBC Wiltshire visited our Bradford-on-Avon Fitness and Friendship Club and spoke to Rosemary, who cares full-time for her husband who has vascular dementia.

For Rosemary, those two hours at the club every fortnight are precious. They're a chance to get moving, chat with others, and be herself for a little while. Speaking to the BBC, she described the club as a "lifesaver."

You can hear Rosemary's story in her own words, alongside our CEO Sarah Cardy, who spoke to BBC Wiltshire about the growing challenges facing Age UK Wiltshire and other local charities.

The reality is that rising costs are making it more of a challenge to keep our services running. An extra £70,000 a year in National Insurance costs, alongside increasing fuel and operational expenses, is putting huge pressure on us, as well as other charities across the county. Three Wiltshire charities have already closed this year.

We know how much our services mean to people like Rosemary, and we're determined to keep them going.

On the 20th May, staff and volunteers from Age UK Wiltshire, Age UK Southampton and Carers Together Wiltshire came together for our biannual gathering. Our gatherings are always a fabulous chance to catch up with everyone and keep updated about what our organisations are up to.

It was a day that felt genuinely energising. There's something about being in a room full of people who care deeply about what they do that reminds you why it all matters. As our incoming CEO Chris Williams put it, "to be in a room of people who really care about what they do is a real joy to me."

We heard from our CEO Sarah Cardy, who is retiring this summer after years of dedicated leadership, and from Chris, who will be taking on the job. Richard Purchase, Chair of the Trustees, also gave an update on where we are and where we're headed.

Teams from across the organisation shared what they've been up to: from Wellbeing Checks with Meals and Carers Together Wiltshire, to our Arts and Friendship Clubs, Celebrating Age Wiltshire, and marketing and communications.

Our special guest speaker also gave us space to think. Rex Webb, who has spent many years working in equity, diversity and inclusion, spoke about what EDI really means at its heart - "it's about people being allowed to be who they really are - about treating people fairly." His talk sparked some really thoughtful conversation as we came together in discussion groups to reflect on the ideas he raised.

Those conversations felt like an important part of the day. We're grateful to everyone who came, contributed and made the day what it was.

Volunteers Week 2026!

This Volunteers Week, we're celebrating our volunteers, who show up week after week for the older members of our community.

Our volunteers give more than their time. They give friendship, consistency, and genuine care. For many of the older people we support, that connection means everything.

If you've ever thought about volunteering for us, there's no better time to find out more.

Check out the exciting events Carers Together Wiltshire are putting on for unpaid Carers in honour of Carers Week next week (8th - 14th June)!

For more information or to book a place, call 01380 710 300 (option 2).

Carers Week is just around the corner, and we'd love to see as many unpaid Carers as possible join us during the week!

From 9th–14th June, we'll be hosting a range of events across Wiltshire, giving unpaid Carers the chance to meet others, share their experiences, get creative, or simply enjoy some time in good company.

There will be opportunities to speak directly with Wiltshire Council leaders at our Your Voice, Your Experience sessions, take part in relaxed creative workshops with Bosky Creative, and finish the week with tea, treats and live music in Chippenham.

Caring for someone can leave little time for yourself, so we hope these events offer a chance to socialise with others who 'get it', feel that your voice is being heard and also to have fun!

Looking for a friendly way to keep active and meet new people? Our Tidworth Fitness & Friendship Club could be just the thing.

We run this relaxed, welcoming group for older people in the Tidworth area, meeting every other Tuesday at Tidworth Civic Centre (Wylye Road) from 2pm to 4pm. Activities include things like Tai Chi, kurling, bowls, quoits and quizzes, all at a gentle pace - with plenty of time for a chat and refreshments afterwards.

New members are always welcome, the venue has disabled access, and there's free parking nearby.

We'd love to see you there.
