Rotarians on tour again!
We had a great time on our tour of Wadworth’s new Folly Road Brewery on Saturday. Expertly guided by Jim, we learned about the history of the brewery, the move to the new location and the new techniques and processes. The b**r tasting at the end brought all this together, and of course was rather tasty too!
Thanks also to New Society for accommodating us all for lunch afterwards.

It was lovely to meet Mina and Colin from Rotary Club of Pershore as they stopped in Devizes on their walk from Reading to Bristol along the Kennet and Avon Canal. They are raising funds for the Jinja Educational Trust and Lords Meade Vocational College in Jinja, Uganda. A cup and coffee and some Rotary fellowship will hopefully help them along with the next leg of the journey. Good luck with the rest of your walk and fundraising!

Devizes Rotary had a little road trip to deliver your donation of tools to Tools for Self Reliance, who will refurbish them and send them to local organisations in Africa to support communities becoming independent and sustainable. Contact us to find out more!

On Tuesday we were joined for our monthly speaker evening by Clive Duffield from Devizes Branch Royal British Legion, and Peter Saunders, Poppy Appeal Manager for Wiltshire.

Clive updated us on the RBL’s local fundraising and where the money goes and how it supports veterans and those currently serving and their families.

Peter then spoke about his journey from joining the army, following his passion for athletics, then recovering from trauma to not only support the RBL as a fundraising manager but to overcome all odds to become a Gold Medallist at the Invictus Games.

A fantastic and inspirational evening!

On Tuesday evening we had our ‘handover’ evening, marking the end of the Rotary year. Outgoing President Victoria Warren handed over to Clive Harland as Devizes Rotary President for 2026/7. Clive is no stranger to the role having held it twice before so the club is in good hands!

President Victoria Warren and President Elect Clive Harland were delighted to attend the Devizes RBL awards night at the Wyvern Club.

Clare Pappiatt the RBL fundraiser for the south west and Sheena Cranston caseworker at the RBL joined the evening. Clare presented a very special 50 year award to Lt/Col Mather (CVO OBE) whilst Sheena explaned how the RBL spends the donation which are so kindly given by many of you to our veterans and service community. Town Mayor Vanessa Tanner presented awards to fundraisers and supporters from around the area.

Thank you to all the RBL for their tireless efforts to support our community and the incredible fundraising they do each year.
