Hilton Scout & Guide Hut is the base for Scouting and GirlGuiding for the village of Hilton in South Derbyshire.

The Hut is also available as a venue for parties, events and classes.

Not every update comes with a ribbon-cutting ceremony... sometimes it's a new door! 🚪

We've recently invested in a brand-new door for our Scout and Guide Hut. It might not seem like much, but it's an important improvement and a significant investment in our building.

We'd like to say a huge thank you to Abbey Architectural based in Allenton https://abbey-architectural.co.uk/ for supplying and fitting the door at a fantastic cost price, and to Don Amott MotorHomes & Caravans for their contribution towards the project. Your support has helped make this happen.

While a new door may not be the most glamorous addition, it's all part of ensuring that our young people have a safe, secure, and welcoming place to enjoy Scouting and Guiding for years to come.

Projects like this don't happen on their own. We're always looking for volunteers to help keep the building running and maintained. Don't worry – it's not all campfires, knots and traditional Scout and Guide activities! There are plenty of ways to get involved behind the scenes, whether you can offer practical skills, help with maintenance projects, administration, fundraising, or simply lend a hand when needed.

This week is national volunteer week!

And we have some fabulous opportunities to help out in our community here in our lovely village.
We need help behind the scenes to keep Scouting alive in the village.
Our Scout Group Trust Board needs a Chair person and a Secretary.
These roles take no more than a couple of hours a month.
Without people in these roles Scouting in Hilton cannot continue to run, impacting nearly 100 children-we cannot ask more of our current volunteers!

Update: we have had a very kind offer of support from our Parish Council. They will include our garden in their regular village grounds maintenance.

It is coming to that time of year where the grass in the Scout Hut garden is starting to grow and will need cutting!

We are trying to reduce our expenditure instead of raising hire fees, so we are looking for volunteers to cover this.

Would you, or someone you know, be willing to cut the grass at the Scout Hut? This could be a regular committment every month, or if we have enough (about 7 people) respond then once at some point in the year?

Hilton Brownies have spaces

Hello,

We have spaces in both units for girls aged 7-10 to come and experience Brownies and what Girlguiding can offer.

If you are interested, please click the link below and register and we will be in touch to arrange your daughter starting with us.

We have units that meet on a Wednesday and Thursday evening in Hilton.

Happy New Year!
Are you looking for a new challenge or a new use for all your energy?
We are looking for a Section Leader for our Squirrels.
Squirrels is the youngest section of Scouts- 4-6yr olds.
They usually meet on Mondays during term-time from 4-5pm, though it is possible to change this if necessary.
We have enough volunteers, and parents are willing to help where they can, but we are currently running a limited programme to keep things going whilst we recruit a leader. We have a waiting list, but we have ha to reduce our numbers during this time also.
If you have a child aged 4-6 then we would obviously make space for them to join!
No scouting experience is necessary; here is training and lots of support for the right person. If you, or someone you know, could be interested then get in touch. I would be happy to have a no-commitment chat about what it involves.
