Update: we have had a very kind offer of support from our Parish Council. They will include our garden in their regular village grounds maintenance.

It is coming to that time of year where the grass in the Scout Hut garden is starting to grow and will need cutting!

We are trying to reduce our expenditure instead of raising hire fees, so we are looking for volunteers to cover this.

Would you, or someone you know, be willing to cut the grass at the Scout Hut? This could be a regular committment every month, or if we have enough (about 7 people) respond then once at some point in the year?

Hilton Brownies have spaces

We have spaces in both units for girls aged 7-10 to come and experience Brownies and what Girlguiding can offer.

We have units that meet on a Wednesday and Thursday evening in Hilton.

Happy New Year!
Are you looking for a new challenge or a new use for all your energy?
We are looking for a Section Leader for our Squirrels.
Squirrels is the youngest section of Scouts- 4-6yr olds.
They usually meet on Mondays during term-time from 4-5pm, though it is possible to change this if necessary.
We have enough volunteers, and parents are willing to help where they can, but we are currently running a limited programme to keep things going whilst we recruit a leader. We have a waiting list, but we have ha to reduce our numbers during this time also.
If you have a child aged 4-6 then we would obviously make space for them to join!
No scouting experience is necessary; here is training and lots of support for the right person. If you, or someone you know, could be interested then get in touch. I would be happy to have a no-commitment chat about what it involves.

This year the Act of Remembrance at the Memorial Meadow (9th Nov) will be led by Hilton Scouting and Guiding groups. Many sections will be parading to the meadow for the 10:50am.

Join us to mark the 80th Anniversary of the end of WWII and to remember all those who have died in conflict.

As part of this, the parade route will be closed to traffic briefly between 1030am and 1045am; please respect our marshalls if they ask you to wait as the parade passes.

On Remembrance Sunday (9th November) many of the sections from Scouting and Guiding in Hilton will be marking the day with a Parade along Back Lane, across the park to the Memorial Meadow.

We need 8 marshalls along the route- Hgh Vis Vests provided!!
You will need to be available from 10am-1130am on Sunday 9th Novemeber.

We are pleased to announce the commencement of young people selection for the Derbyshire unit attending the 26th world scout jamboree.

The Jamboree is a once-in-a-lifetime international adventure, bringing together tens of thousands of Scouts from around the world. It’s an incredible opportunity for young people to grow in confidence, make global friendships, and experience new cultures.

We’d really appreciate your help in spreading the word to eligible young people in your section. Those born between 30 July 2009 and 30 July 2013 are invited to apply. If selected, they’ll become part of a local Unit and take part in training, fundraising, and team-building activities in the lead-up to the event.

Derbyshire have 1 unit of 36 young people and 4 unit leaders attending. We have our unit leaders all we need now are the scouts.

The estimated cost of the event is £3400-£3700 in instalments between October 2025 and April 2027. If applicants successful there will be a £500 deposit payable by 31st October 2025.

Eligibility criteria

Be a member of scouting within Derbyshire

Be born between 30th July 2009 -30th July 2013

⚜️ Merlin Explorer Scout Unit (Hilton) are recruiting for September! - if you have a 14-18 year old (or are one) and want to get involved in learning new skills for life, try things you’d never get the chance to do at home or at school, or widen your network of friends then Merlin could be the perfect opportunity.

→ Explorers decide their own programme, with both outdoor based tasks such as camping and cooking, and a variety of exciting indoor activities. Wherever possible, Explorers run their own meetings, promoting leadership and organisation skills, always, however led by adult volunteers who are on hand to share their skills and keep everyone safe.

→ We meet weekly on Tuesday nights in term time at the Scout Hut, Merlin is open to all and no previous scouting experience is needed. Please contact us via the email address on the attached flyer if you have any further questions!

HILTON your community needs you!

Hilton Scout & Guide Hut is looking for a new Chair to join our Team on a voluntary basis to support the development of our fab Community building.

The role of the Chair is to preside over our AGM and Committee meetings to ensure meetings run smoothly & achieve a successful outcome.

We’re looking for someone who can, along with the other committee members, continue to develop this wonderful facility for generations to come.

Time commitment is really low, around 1 hour a week. Full handover will be provided.
