Are you aware of the ancient history of the Lincs Imps?👿

The Lincolnshire Imp is a famous 13th-century stone carving and legend. According to folklore, the devil sent 2 mischievous imps down to Earth to cause chaos & wreak havoc.

They first visited a church in Chesterfield, allegedly twisting its famous spire, before flying to Lincoln Cathedral. ⛪️

An angry angel appeared to stop them, one imp was caught after throwing stones at the angle & subsequently turned to stone, becoming a permanent symbol of Lincoln & Lincolnshire that can still be seen to this day, while the other escaped.. 👼

Legend says a strong wind constantly blows around Lincoln Cathedral because the surviving imp still circles the building looking for his petrified brother.

Yesterday we had the pleasure of being invited to the Free Wheelers Lodge BBQ hosted by their current Senior Warden Phil Allsworth & his good lady. To describe the quality of food would do it an injustice, you had to see it to believe it! The hospitality & welcome was second to none & the event was put on to start to raise money for Lincolnshire Emergency Blood Bikes Service with the goal of eventually raising enough to purchase a new bike. A fantastic cause. This was the first time the Widows Sons MBA Lincs Imps Chapter & Freewheelers lodge have got together & what a wonderful joyful afternoon it was, likeminded brothers & their good ladies all together. We sincerely look forward to getting together again soon as well as on ride outs together.
We were also joined Tony Pereira our Widows Sons national Secretary & from the Quarrymen Chapter in Dorset which was a pleasure whilst he was up in Lincolnshire visiting family. Being a fantastic Sunday weather wise ☀️we went the long way round via Willingham Woods & Barton nature reserve😜

2027 will be all things Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿. The spiritual home of Widows Sons in the United Kingdom. Not only will we have the annual Branding ceremony event in April to look forward to where we will be taking the next eligible members of our chapter up to experience this special right of passage, but we also have the 2027 Widows Sons national rally taking place in Scotland in July. We are looking forward to next year already.

Whilst at the Widows Sons national rally this year it was a pleasure to meet Right Worshipful Brother Neil John Austin PGM for East Sussex who was very complementary & interested in Lincolnshire where he had recently visited at Lindsey Lodge 712 in Louth where several of the Lincs Imps are members. RW/Bro. Neil John Austin is also a patched Widows Son & a great ambassador of the association. It is nice to see so many PGM’s now patched members both honorary & active. We look forward to one day having the pleasure of patching in our own PGM in Lincolnshire. The lodge meeting of the Widows Sons lodge 10011 was not only boarding a record for the number of brethren in attendance outside of UGLE but I’d safely say the temperature inside a lodge meeting was possibly a record all of its own. #10011

Widows Sons National Rally 2026 is in full swing & to start the wkend off the Lincs Imps chapter had the absolute pleasure of patching in W/Bro Chris Jones as a fully patched member. The members of the chapter voted to give him the road name of ‘Walkabout’ to honour and celebrate the truly fantastic effort and achievement Chris made in his walk around the entire coastline of the United Kingdom raising money for the Masonic Charitable Foundation.
Chris is a founder member of the Lincolnshire Free Wheelers Lodge who we often have the pleasure of meeting up with and sharing rides, breakfast & laughs together.
We are delighted to have Chris in the Lincs Imps chapter of Widows Sons & look forward to our further adventures within Lincolnshire & beyond.⛺️🏍️☀️

Today 10 from Lincs Imps assembled for a breakfast in Lincoln before meeting up with 12 members of Merlin & Nottinghamshire chapters to attend Masons & Motors at Doddington Hall. Weather being so much better than last year made for a really enjoyable event with lots of classic cars and motorbikes in attendance. Lovely to see and catch up with Ian Wilson as well a former Widows Son who was marshalling at the event. Also lovely to see and chat with our PGM of Lincolnshire who thanked the Widows Sons for their support of todays event.
Standard that Snowman found that the ‘Copper are here’! Ending up Sat in the back cage🚔 swift release un time for a fly past by a Dakota before heading homeward bound. Nice warm up ride for the National Rally next weekend!⛺️🍺

Today our secretary of the chapter represented Lincs Imps at Bucks Fest, taking the greetings & best wishes of Lincolnshire down to our brothers in Pyrton. He even had the pleasure of meeting the Buckinghamshire PGM RW/bro Tim Anders who is also a fully patched Widows Son & a great supporter of the Association. Tomorrow the Lincs Imps will be heading to Masons & Motor (gates open 10:30) at Doddington Hall nr Lincoln hoping to meet up with our own PGM & provincial team.

A fantastic ride today in near perfect riding conditions. Setting off bright & early from the north of the county and moving south and west meeting up with numerous members of our Lincs Imps chapter on route to Long Eaton Masonic centre where a lovely breakfast was waiting for us kindly arranged by Merlin Chapter.
On our journey we bumped into a mason in Grantham who happened to be a biker also & we look forward to welcoming him to ride with us soon.
Lovely to see so many bikes & Widows Sons gathering to get neighbouring chapters together.

Next official planned event is Masons & Motors on 19th July at Donnigton Hall nr Lincoln. If you want to join us, drop us a msg, we’d love to meet you.

An absolutely glorious day to be out riding and what better location to head than to Bomber Command in Lincoln for the Inspire26 event raising money to keep such a fantastic place open and to expand so they can build an additional space to allow more school children to visit and learn about Lincolnshire being Bomber county during ww2 & the immense effort & sacrifice hundreds of thousands of brave RAF personnel made to ensure our freedom.
Lovely ride up with Grimsby & Cleethorpes Freemasons organised & headed up by Lord Worsley lodges Martin Pearce & once there meeting up also with some of the Freewheelers, a true coming together of Lincolnshire freemason motor-bikers. ☀️🏍️✈️
