News on the joint cycling venture between Darley Dale, Onzain and Flein:
Patrick, a 20 year old student studying at Leeds University, replied to an advertisement that Darley Dale Twinning placed in the Peak Advertiser to join a tri-nation cycle event from our twinned town, Onzain, to Flein, Germany, in August 2026. Despite being the only 'Brit' to take part, he finished the 8 day event having made many new friends, and had an experience filled with memories to last a lifetime. He is happy to report that his spoken French is also much improved even though the other participants were keen to practise their English with him.

What a lovely afternoon Darley Dale Twinning has had being part of the celebration of 80 years of Scouting in Darley Dale with a host of fun and activities for the kids, food including a hog roast and cream teas, drinks, and a Viking Reenactment. The weather was perfect. Thanks to all those involved in the organisation of a fantastic, local event.

. Our focus at the moment is on an event taking place, in France, involving (mainly) young people from the twinned towns of Onzain , Flein (Germany) and 1 person representing Darley Dale. The ride is called Roulons pour sauver des vies (Let's ride to save lives) and is focussed on European solidarity amongst younger people and also linked to the importance of donating blood.

We have been able to financially support one participant and hope he will come back, full of enthusiasm that will encourage more to take part in next year's event. We hope to be able to find more cyclists willing to take part next summer, and to raise funds to support this.

It's all happening now, so if you want to follow the action, scan the QR code below.

There was plenty of dancing, as well as singing, to be enjoyed on our recent trip to Onzain, thanks to Winster Morris and La Valcissiene, Onzain's local dancers.
