RIVER NETWORK CELEBRATES 5 YEARS OF INNOVATION IN FOODBANK DISTRIBUTION SERVICE** Peak Advertiser
Cromford, Matlock – Following the recent celebration of three years of excellence in supported housing, River Network is thrilled to announce another significant milestone: five years of innovative foodbank distribution service. This regional charity, celebrated for its state-of-the-art offices and media studios in Cromford, Matlock, continues to holistically uplift the entire area and region.
In these challenging times of cost of living and energy crisis a locally based and regionally impactful and nationally recognised charity is innovating change and perceptions!
“It’s like the Uber eats of community foodbanks!” Says one fan.
Jill Eckersley, a spokesperson for River Network, expressed profound gratitude for the dedication of the board, staff, volunteers, and partners: "We want to honour everyone who consistently raises the bar in community support and engagement."
The foodbank service has successfully partnered with numerous community hubs, including boxing academies, football clubs, and schools. This strategic distribution network has resulted in a remarkable 50% increase in attendance.
The extraordinary charity also holds regular community events and distribution events of food, toys and other items at Easter , Christmas and other holiday celebrations and parties!
“ It’s such a joy to be a part of this project with RIVER NETWORK it’s also brought purpose to our communities and lives !” Says 91 year old Stan.
Harry from Matlock Boxing Academy, who transitioned successfully from River Network Housing, attributes the foodbank's distribution to the enhanced engagement with young people. "The initiative has kept youth off the streets, fostering life skills and discipline, leading to a notable decrease in anti-social behaviour and crime," he stated.
River Network's foodbank also supports its own housing and homeless projects, actively involving residents in the distribution process. This "poachers turned gamekeepers" approach empowers individuals by turning recipients into community contributors.
Since its inception during the lockdown, the foodbank has expanded its reach to individuals and families in crisis, providing not only food but also pastoral care directly to doorsteps. The service is highly applauded for distributing top-quality products from renowned providers like M&S, Aldi, and Lidl, and for its commitment to purchasing additional supplies to support those in need.
