Finally after 3 weeks of hard work we get to put out our Hedgehog 🦔 Homes in a new spot. Our little effort to help preserve these wonderful creatures. We discussed our plans and found ideal locations to place the homes. Then prepped the spots, covered the homes with a plastic liner to protect it from the elements, then covered it with leaf litter. Hopefully we’ll get some new residents shortly. We had a bit of time for a wide game or two before our time was up. The Scouts did a fantastic job with the hedgehog 🦔 homes. Well done!! ⚜️⚜️⚜️

Fundraising today and helping our community. The Scouts managed the parking for the Etape Solway cycle race. They did the task admirably with smiles and friendly banter even through it was an early start!
We also had a Scout and a Cub participating today and one of our Beaver Leaders! Well done to you all.

Cycling and walking in our very beautiful environment around Dalbeattie tonight!
The cyclists got to ride some of the 7 Stanes trails to test and sharpen those skills. The walkers went searching for some of the hedgehog 🦔 statues on the hedgehog trail in the Dalbeattie Woods. A awesome weather day with the only challenge being to keep moving before the midges got you 🤣!!
Visit Dalbeattie to see what we see!

This weekend is the Etape Solway cycle race and the participants will be parked up at the new Rocks and Wheels Center in Dalbeattie. The Scouts will be managing the Parking, but before that, a few of us went to clean up the overspill parking on Friday night. They did a great job of cleaning and levelling the parking, but also did magnificently job at feeding the local midges!!

Our international evening. Meeting online with a Scout Troop from South Africa. 6th Pretoria St Andrews Scout Group, it was great meeting with you and learning more about you and your troop. They were established in the St Andrews church, Pretoria in 1919, by a founding member, a Scot, called Mr McKenzie. Mr McKenzie sought permission form the McKenzie clan in Scotland for the troop to wear the McKenzie tartan.
There were lots of questions going back and forth between the countries. Great interaction across the “big waters”. We were also given a super South African 🇿🇦 National Anthem sung by the proud Scouts and led by their Scout Trooper, Dylan Wills. A national anthem comprising of 4 of their official languages. A fantastic meeting!
Then it was back to completing the hedgehog houses, which are now finished and will be placed out in the wilds to be hoped used by our precious hedgehogs 🦔 .
