Created in 2022 by The 3Rs Horse Rescue Centre.

What began as a Civic Week ride out has grown into an official Riding of the Marches — bringing the community together to celebrate Dalbeattie and its traditions.

🎄🚴 DALBEATTIE CHRISTMAS BIKE RIDE! 🚴🎄

Get your bikes, Christmas lights and festive fancy dress ready! 🎅✨

Dalbeattie Riding of the Marches are organising a FREE Christmas Bike Ride for all ages!

📅 Saturday 5th December 2026
⏰ 5.30pm
📍 Colliston Park Bandstand

🚲 Two routes available:

🎄 A short ride around the park for our younger cyclists.

🎄 A longer ride towards the woods and along High Street to enjoy the Christmas lights! (Full route TBC.)

🏆 Prize for the best festive fancy dress!

☕🌭 We’ll also be selling hot chocolate, hot dogs and soup to keep everyone cosy!

Whether you’re joining us on two wheels or coming along to enjoy the festive atmosphere, we’d love to see you there! 🎅🎄

Come along and support Dalbeattie Riding of the Marches for a lovely morning of cuppas, cakes and community spirit! 💙💛

Dalbeattie Civic Daze are holding their fantastic fireworks display at Colliston Park on the very same day, with the fun starting at 5pm and fireworks at 7.30pm!

So join us for a cuppa in the morning, then head along for an evening of fireworks and family fun! 🎇

We’re busy planning some winter fundraising events and would be incredibly grateful for any raffle or tombola prize donations! 🎁

🏰🐴 Edinburgh Riding of the Marches 2026 🐴🏰

What a brilliant first year for Dalbeattie Riding of the Marches at Edinburgh! 💙💛

Dalbeattie was represented across the day, with Zoe Thornhill, Gillian Whalen and Junior Lad Orlando Campbell taking part in the People’s Procession, where they were also joined by James from Moffat Shepherd and Lass Club.

Our Cornet Connor Donowho and Cornet’s Lass Laura Penman represented Dalbeattie on horseback in the Riding of the Marches, while Chairperson Hayley Ann attended the Lord Provost’s Civic Reception.

One of the loveliest parts of the day was just how many people recognised Dalbeattie, or spotted our sashes and came over to ask how our first official year had gone. 🥹

As a newly established Riding of the Marches, it was really special to be welcomed so warmly and to feel so included amongst so many other towns and traditions.

A huge thank you to Edinburgh Riding of the Marches for having us and congratulations to everyone involved in such a fantastic day. We’ve had an amazing first year building our own new tradition rooted in heritage, and today was a pretty special way to round it off. 💙💛🐴
