We recently welcomed RNLI Chief Executive, Peter Sparkes, to the station. Peter spent time talking with volunteers from the shop, fundraising team and lifeboat crew and looking round the station and lifeboat.

We were delighted that he was also able to present Susan from our fundraising group with a certificate of thanks for her service. Susan has recently stepped down from her voluntary role and everyone at Kippford is very grateful for her contribution and support.

Volunteer crew member Laura has spent the weekend in Dunbar and Eyemouth working alongside lifeboat crews from around Scotland.

The sessions included afloat training, practical shoreside sessions and talks from from RNLI teams and external speakers.

Laura said, "a highlight for me was being able to helm RNLI Dunbar Lifeboats Trent Class, it was quite a step up from our D Class inshore lifeboat. I enjoyed meeting people from all around Scotland and sharing ideas."

Thank you to RNLI Dunbar Lifeboats, RNLI Eyemouth Lifeboat and St Abbs Lifeboat for hosting, bringing the boats and providing a great atmosphere for learning.

Women in SAR comes to Dunbar, Eyemouth and St Abbs

Dunbar, Eyemouth and St Abbs lifeboat stations this weekend played host to a groundbreaking Scottish Women in SAR (search and rescue) event.

Over 40 women from 24 lifeboat stations have come together for a full weekend of afloat and shore-based exercises, skills workshops and shared learning to connect, inspire and support women involved in maritime rescue. Host stations RNLI Dunbar and RNLI Eyemouth Lifeboat and independent St Abbs Lifeboat welcomed 42 delegates from around Scotland for exercises on four lifeboats, while inspirational speakers and activity leaders provided workshops onshore.

The initiative is the second of its kind in Scotland, after an inaugural event in Inverness last year. Launched in 2019 by the International Maritime Rescue Federation (IMRF), Women in SAR (WISAR) is a global movement open to all lifeboat stations, including the RNLI and independent operations.

The volunteers at Kippford RNLI were delighted to welcome representatives from Dumfries Lions Club with a generous donation raised from their annual Christmas tree sale.

Thank you to the team at Scottish Christmas Trees who nominated us as a recipient charity. The money will be used to allow us to continue saving lives at sea.

Kippford lifeboat volunteers were in action again this week for the second call out in six days for the crew.

Nine people and a dog were safely escorted to the waiting team from HM Coastguard Portling Search and Rescue after being cut off by the incoming tide near Sandyhills.

Beautiful night for a training exercise 😎
