Lanternhouse is a performing arts centre jointly managed by North Lanarkshire Council and Cumbernauld Theatre Trust. Part of the Cumbernauld Academy Campus, we have good bus links, ample car parking, and a short walk from Cumbernauld town centre.

“A working-class hero is something to be.”

The strike starts tonight! Stand & Deliver: The Lee Jeans Sit-In opens on our main stage this evening for two performances. 👖

Both performances are sold out - any returned tickets will be offered to those on our waiting list.

Written by Frances Poet and directed by Jemima Levick, Stand & Deliver: The Lee Jeans Sit-In tells the remarkable true story of the workers who occupied a Greenock factory in a fight to save their jobs.

A National Theatre of Scotland and Tron Theatre Company co-production.

🏗️ Do you know the story behind this photograph?

It’s just one of the many stories, memories and connections that make up Cumbernauld’s history over the past 70 years. As Cumbernauld marks its anniversary year, Cumbernauld Theatre is inviting local people to share the stories that make this town what it is, with selected stories helping to inspire a new piece of theatre.

Everyone has their own connection to Cumbernauld. We’d like to hear the moments, memories and experiences that deserve to be remembered and shared.

We’re looking for:

• Real-life stories connected to Cumbernauld’s history, places or communities.
• Personal or family stories that deserve a wider audience.
• Stories of protest, humour, resilience, struggle, triumph or hope.

🌍✨ Thank you to everyone who joined us for our recent Community Gathering!

It was wonderful to see so many people coming together to celebrate global majority cultures through workshops, live music, shared food and film. The event forms part of our wider programme celebrating Cumbernauld’s 70th anniversary, supported through Creative Scotland’s Open Fund.
