WOW again Palacerigg.

The weather turned up again and so did you. It’s soo good seeing families enjoying the park along with the regular dog walkers and fitness walkers.

You almost ate us out of ice creams again and sorry for everyone who was looking for a sandwich or a hot roll after we had sold out.

Our trial of sandwiches has definitely been a success so they will be a regular feature along with hot rolls going forward.

We are taking a wee rest for the next few days (well some of us have to go back to work!) but will be back at the weekend and we are building up to full time summer holiday opening.

Keep your eyes open for a wee feature in the Cumbernauld News and on here later this week about how you can help make Palacerigg Country Park the place to be this summer.

WOW!

Yesterday was spectacular and it was great to see so many people out enjoying Palacerigg Country Park and making use of our facilities in the Visitor Centre.

You just about ate us out of ice creams but don’t worry. After an emergency restocking the freezer is loaded up again and ready for another beautiful day.

Looking forward to seeing you back today for day 4 of the half term holiday.

Yesterday was busy in the park and the sun is already out this morning so expecting more of the same.

Sandwiches and hot rolls were very popular. We still have some left but they will not last all weekend so if you would like to try them you will need to be quick. We will increase stock and range going forward as our 3-week trial has confirmed that you want them.

It's great to see the park getting busy again and we are delighted to be making a contribution to everyone's enjoyment of this unique space.

With the 4-day school holiday weekend just around the corner, our café will be open from Friday 22nd to Monday 26th May — and we’ve got a few tasty additions for you to enjoy!

This will be the third weekend of our sandwich trial, and alongside the cold sandwiches you’ve already been enjoying, we’re excited to introduce a couple of hot favourites:

Bacon buttys
Link sausage buttys

As we’re still testing demand, quantities will be limited while we learn what everyone loves most. So if you’re keen to try one, pop in early!

Thanks again for all the support and feedback so far — it’s helping us shape the menu for the weeks ahead. And if your first choice happens to sell out, we appreciate your understanding while we fine-tune our quantities for future weekends.

Working in partnership with Watch Us Grow and Palacerigg Community Trust, we're currently preparing an application to the National Lottery Heritage Fund for an exciting project at Palacerigg Country Park. The project will restore and document the on-site mural by renowned Scottish artist Alasdair Gray, reduce energy consumption in the community run buildings to lower their carbon emissions and running costs, and rewet the rare peatland habitat in the Toddlemuir area of the park, with an interpretation trail created.

There are lots of opportunities for local people, children and families to join the project, finding out more about their local heritage, learning skills which help restore and protect it, and spreading the word to other members of their local community through events and activities. If you are interested in getting involved and would like to find out more, please complete the following survey by 21 May 2026: https://forms.office.com/e/C7RUHf5YBz
