Railway Children

We believe in a world where no child ever has to live alone on the streets 💚

Railway Children exists for children at risk of abuse and exploitation on streets and at transport hubs. Having run away or been forced to leave homes filled with poverty, violence, abuse or neglect, these children find themselves on the streets because there is nowhere else to go and no one left to turn to. But the problems they face on the streets are often far worse than what they have left behind. Every day, across the UK, India and Tanzania, we aim to reach vulnerable children as soon as they arrive on the streets, before they come to harm. After meeting their immediate needs, we then work with children to change their stories – providing the support they and their families need for as long as it takes to build the brighter future they deserve.

This Christmas, perpetrators are looking for children to exploit.

And transport hubs are often where they find them.

But they’re also the places children can be seen, safe and supported.

It all comes down to who reaches them first.

Will you give a gift today to ensure we get there first, and protect a child from exploitation?

This Christmas, exploiters are turning children into commodities to be used, abused and passed on.

And they’re using transport networks to do it.

But transport hubs are also where we can intervene.

With your support, we can be at transport hubs to keep children seen, safe and supported when it matters most.

This month, we’re celebrating different minds – including people with dyslexia, ADHD, dyspraxia and invisible disabilities – and the value they value they bring to our world.

We also acknowledge the barriers faced by neurodivergent people in a world designed for the majority – barriers we see affecting the young people we support every day.

That’s why we work with education providers, social workers, children’s mental health services and families to ensure neurodivergent young people have the understanding, tools, support and self-belief to thrive.

We're delighted to be partnering with Paul Egan of Hill Johnstone Wealth Management to help us better understand the opportunities and challenges surrounding inheritance tax, estate planning and charitable giving.

In this insightful conversation with Railway Children's Lizzi Hollis, Corporate Partnerships Manager, Paul explains how proposed inheritance tax changes from April 2027 could affect more families than many people realise. Understanding your options now could make a significant difference for both your loved ones and the causes you care about.

At Railway Children, we're incredibly grateful to partners like Paul who generously share their expertise to help our supporters make informed decisions about their giving and their future. Through these conversations we hope to empower people to create a lasting legacy that supports the people and causes they care about most.

Thanks to the kindness and generosity of you, our amazing supporters, our recent Radio 4 Appeal raised an incredible £25,000! And with every pound matched by a generous supporter, that total becomes a doubly incredible £50,000!

This support will have a lasting impact on young people like Juma, helping them access the opportunities, safety and support they need to build brighter futures.

Every donation, share and message of support helped make this possible. We couldn’t have done it without you, thank you. 💚

You can find out more about the appeal and Juma’s story here: https://bit.ly/4xjjIdD

A huge THANK YOU and WELL DONE to everyone who took part in our fantastic England Triple event last week, the third event in the triple series! 💚

The day brought wind, rain and beautiful sunshine - but nothing could dampen the spirits of our 18 incredible fundraisers as they hiked 🚶 biked 🚴 and kayaked 🚣 their way through the day.

Thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm of everyone involved, an incredible amount was raised to help us continue supporting children and families who need us most. The difference that you have made to the lives of vulnerable young people cannot be underestimated - we are so grateful for your commitment to our cause.

Congratulations on a successful day, and thank you to everyone who helped make it happen. Together, we're creating brighter futures for children. ✨

Your support is helping girls in India access trusted health information and practical support.

Together with CAPED (Cancer Awareness, Prevention and Early Detection Trust), our team ran a cervical cancer and HPV vaccination awareness session for girls and their parents, whilst offering eligible girls a free HPV vaccine dose.

We also worked with the Pinkishe Foundation to reach girls and women through menstrual health sessions – providing information, sanitary pads and a safe space to ask questions.

Your support is helping girls feel informed, confident and empowered to protect their health and build brighter futures.
