Railway Children

Railway Children We believe in a world where no child ever has to live alone on the streets 💚

Railway Children exists for children at risk of abuse and exploitation on streets and at transport hubs. Having run away or been forced to leave homes filled with poverty, violence, abuse or neglect, these children find themselves on the streets because there is nowhere else to go and no one left to turn to. But the problems they face on the streets are often far worse than what they have left beh

ind. Every day, across the UK, India and Tanzania, we aim to reach vulnerable children as soon as they arrive on the streets, before they come to harm. After meeting their immediate needs, we then work with children to change their stories – providing the support they and their families need for as long as it takes to build the brighter future they deserve.

This autumn, as children across the UK start a new school year, we're making sure more children across India and Tanzania get those same chances.

Because we know that, particularly in a life limited by poverty and exploitation, education gives children their best chance of a brighter future.

We're saddened but not surprised to read that young adults leaving care in the UK have a death rate four times higher than the general population. That's why we're calling on all governments, including our own, to shift our care systems towards a family-first model that gives children and young people the loving environment they need to thrive.

Those leaving care have a death rate around four times higher than the general population, a new review reveals.

If your teenager is going to Reading or Leeds festival this year, your anxiety may be growing at the same speed as their excitement.

But don’t worry, we’re there to keep them safe.

As well as safety messages and videos – like this one – across the festival sites, our teams will be at train stations in both Reading and Leeds – and on site at Reading – to support young people who need help.

Whether it’s lost tickets, lost friends, getting home safely or just needing someone to talk to, they can come to us.

Please let your young person know to look out for us at the stations and on site at Reading.

Across the world, children’s lives are being turned into commodities – used for free labour, criminal exploitation and maximum profit.

But your support ensures we reach these children before traffickers and exploiters: turning labour into play, packages into possibility and lost childhoods into brighter futures.
