📢📢📢 JUNE WORK PARTY 📢📢📢

The wildflower meadow is flourishing in parts and for our June work party we would like to survey what is growing, and see what insects are making the most of the wilder habitat 🌸🦗🪳🐝🐞🦋🐛🌾

We would love to have as many people as possible out with us on the evening of Weds 17th June helping to look for, identify, and record the flora and fauna in the area 🧐 ✏️📋

This will be a lovely opportunity to learn more about the species that are present and help us record the success of the meadow area. All ages and abilities are welcome at this event and there is no physical work involved apart from a nice stroll around, keeping a beady eye out, and looking through books/guides to identify what we spot.

The HCG committee would like to say a HUGE thank you to Haslington Parish Council for another brilliant village fun day yesterday, and to all our lovely supporters old and new who came to see us and bought raffle tickets, plants, cards, bird boxes, bead trees, and had a go at guessing Oscar's birthday 🐻🎂 a big thank you also to those who donated such lovely items for us to sell/raffle/give as a prize - we couldn't have had a stall without your generosity.

We made a fantastic total of £250 which will be used to further our work to improve the green spaces of our village for all.

Oscar bear's birthday can now be revealed as the 27th February, and we were very pleased that a long time supporter of all our work from the very start guessed the exact date 👏🏼

Oscar bear and the HCG committee are looking forward to seeing you tomorrow at the Haslington Parish Council Village Fun Day on the village green 11am - 3.30pm

Amongst other things, we will have:
A competition to win a family ticket to Holmes Chapel Zoo 🐻
A raffle with some fantastic prizes including this beautiful hamper, garden pot planted up with pollinator friendly wildflowers 🌸🐝 and other items that have been kindly donated 🍾
Some beautiful handmade greetings cards to buy which contain a packet of wildflower seeds for the recipient to plant 🌱
Sunflower plants to buy 🌻
So please do come along and find us 👋🏼☺️

Last week we held our AGM. Thank you so much to all our supporters and committee members who attended.

As per a usual AGM, we ran through the official necessities - Chairman's report, treasurer's report, committee roles, etc, and I am very happy to report that our dedicated committee members have all pledged to stay in post for another year 😊

Once all of this was out of the way we went on to discuss the work we have carried out this past year, the hugely successful events we held, plans for growing the group over this coming year, and future projects and events.... Watch this space for dates for your diaries!

As always we love to hear from members of the community with ideas and suggestions, so if you weren't able to make the AGM but would like to have discussions with us you can comment on any of our posts, send us a DM, email [email protected] or, why not come along and find us at the Haslington Village Fun Day on the village green Sat 9th May, where we will have a stand with things to see and do, raffles and competitions to enter, and of course, lots of time for chatting!

Another fabulous turn out of volunteers for our path clearing work party this morning 😃 A huge thank you to each and every one of you - it's not an easy job but you all put so much effort in and we got another nice long stretch cleared 💪🏼🪏🧹

The long grass has also been strimmed and trimmed around the orchard trees. The trees are all flowering well so hopefully the pollinators 🐝 will do their bit and we'll see a good crop of fruits come the autumn 🍎🍏🍐🤞🏼

This coming Monday we will be holding our AGM in the function room at the Cosey from 7.30pm, all are welcome, and next month, instead of a work party we will be at the Haslington Village Fun day, 9th May on the village green so please come along and see us there ☺️
