Please consider signing and sharing this petition to help protect EOTAS provision for some of our most vulnerable learners.

EOTAS/c (Education Other Than At School/ College) can be absolutely life-changing for children and young people who are unable to access mainstream education.
This can be for reasons which include neurodivergence, anxiety, trauma, disabilities, medical needs or other complex circumstances.
For many families, it is not a ‘preference’ - it is the only way their child can safely access education at all.

Without suitable provision, these young people can become isolated, unsupported and ‘left behind’ - leading to poor mental health and negatively impacting their futures.

EOTAS allows education to be tailored around individual needs, helping children rebuild confidence, learn safely and ultimately thrive and achieve in ways they may never have been able to within a traditional school environment. For some children this is a short term recovery stepping stone and for others this is their long term plan and route to their future.

Every child deserves access to an education that is appropriate, accessible and compassionate. This right must be saved.

Protecting EOTAS means protecting these vulnerable children and giving families the support they desperately need.

In any SEND reforms, maintain the legal right to education other than in school for children & young people whose needs mean no school or college placement is appropriate. Retain the SEND Tribunal’s power to order EOTISC and specify the provision required for a child’s individually assessed need...

One of the hardest - but most important - parts of working with therapy dogs (or any animals) is knowing when it’s time for them to retire.

Our dogs give so much of themselves and it is essential they are actively enjoying what they do. We continuously monitor their wellbeing, comfort and happiness. We look carefully for physical changes, energy levels, recovery times, mobility, confidence and enthusiasm for sessions. Retirement isn’t based on age alone - it’s about making sure each dog is thriving and enjoying life.

When the time is right, we let them step back from regular work and simply enjoy being the beloved family members they always are first and foremost. Some may still choose to pop in for the occasional visit or session if it suits them and they’re happy to do so, but always on their terms.

We honestly can’t believe it’s been nearly a year since Amber and Tuco retired 🐾.
They are both absolutely thriving, happy and very well - enjoying slower days, lots of love and all the comforts they deserve after years of supporting so many young people and families.

Retirement is never the end of their place in our team - they’ll always be part of the Creative Action family ❤️.

Here is Tuco, often found in his fave place - sleeping under Sheli’s desk - who one of your young people captured the most beautiful shot of recently.

Good luck to all young people sitting exams right now - whether that’s SATs, GCSEs or any other assessments.

Last week we focused on creating islands of safety and using mandalas as calm spaces during the pressure of exam season 🧠✨.

Remember: exams just measure what you write on a piece of paper not the incredible person you are. Your kindness, creativity and effort matter far more.

You’ve already achieved so much just by getting to this point. Take a breath, believe in yourself, and give it your best shot.

Whatever happens - you will be ok.

This weekend took Sheli, Tuco and Ralf on a little cross‑species adventure — and across a couple of counties too — all in the name of continuously improving best‑practice standards in Animal Assisted Services.

At Hartpury University in Gloucester, Sheli spent time with goats, pigs, chickens, wallabies and alpacas… each with their own communication style, sensory quirks, boundaries, and opinions about humans.

A brilliant reminder that ethical AAS is always species‑led, consent‑based, and grounded in proper welfare frameworks — and that goats absolutely know when you’re not paying attention! 🤭

Then the weekend rolled into Wales for a visit to Hay‑on‑Wye, where Sheli met up with a fellow Animal Assisted Therapist and her gorgeous therapy dogs, Annie and Freddie. The Therapywise Foundation
Plenty of learning, laughter, and dog cuddles — the perfect combination.
