The 01625 Gallery is looking for artists to apply to take over the space in 2025!
The 01625 Gallery is a micro art space, right on the high street in two K6 telephone boxes outside Macclesfield Town Hall. Macclesfield Town Council is looking for 3 separate Macclesfield-based artists, designers or groups to install 3 exhibitions in 2025, and are offering a fee per installation. Artists/groups will have free reign over the space to create an artwork, with advice, support and creative input from a project manager.
“Art” includes installations outside of traditional “art”, such as immersive installations, audio in some way, displays such as flowers and plants (real or fake) or 3D sculptures. Those who experience fewer opportunities to exhibit are particularly invited to apply.
As well as the fee, we hope that the opportunity will help exhibitors to promote themselves and to further their business or group goals. It would be a place to invite viewers to see their artwork, that is “open” 24 hours a day, to practise-run an idea, perhaps something you want to do on a larger scale. Maybe you would include it in your portfolio, using it as an opportunity to photograph your work in a unique space. Perhaps you want to run with an idea inspired by it being specifically in a phone box!
Dates to exhibit are February - May, August - November and November - February (2026).

Amazon Literary Partnership 2025 Opens for Applications
28/11/2024
Now in its sixth year, the Amazon Literary Partnership (ALP) provides one-off grants to not-for-profit literary organisations that support and champion writers of all ages and stages on their creative journey.

With the goal of helping all communities in the UK and Republic of Ireland tell their stories through writing, the Amazon Literary Partnership supports not-for-profit literary organisations that empower writers to create, publish, learn, teach, experiment, and thrive.

The grant funding is intended for innovative groups that amplify diverse voices and strive for a lasting impact on writers' lives, the literary and publishing communities and broader society. (Amazon has provided neither the total amount of funding available or the level of individual grants.)

Last year, 37 literary groups across the UK and the Republic of Ireland received a grant. Beneficiaries included organisations dedicated to amplifying voices that are not usually heard and groups that engage children with expressing themselves through writing. A list of previous winners can be found on the Amazon Literary Partnership webpage.

To be eligible, applicants must be a registered non-profit organisation in the UK or Republic of Ireland, whose core mission is to develop emerging writers, support diversity, celebrate storytelling, and/or build authors’ careers. Organisations should be structurally and financially sound; display energy, passion, and reach; have an online presence, and an enthusiastic membership or readership.

The deadline for 2025 submissions is 31 January 2025 with notification to grant recipients by 16 May 2025.
