Some good news !

As the council moves forward, we are filling spaces left by councillors that felt their journey with the council had come to its conclusion.

So with that in mind , I would like to welcome
Mr Trevor Smith and Mr Rob Newby to the council.
If you are not sure who these gents are, both have been behind the scenes volunteering to make Gretton what it is.
So I thank them both for joining the council.
They bring enthusiasm and knowledge.

I'd also like to take the time to say thankyou to all the councillors. I feel incredibly fortunate to be working alongside such a group of people with so much passion.

Thankyou Gretton, I'm looking forward to the future of the village and keeping it special.

📢 **PUBLIC NOTICE – GRETTON FIRE STATION**

The tenancy for Gretton Fire Station, a property owned by Gretton Parish Council, is now due for renewal.

Any individual, organisation or business wishing to be considered to take over the tenancy is invited to register their interest by emailing the Parish Clerk:

🗓️ **CLOSING DATE: Thursday 29 October 2026**

All expressions of interest received by the closing date will be considered by Gretton Parish Council. Registering an interest does not guarantee that a tenancy will be awarded.

Gretton Parish Council have today received an update from NNC Electric Vehicle (EV) team regarding concerns raised about the installation of EV chargepoints on Southfield Road. Details are provided below.

· The NNC EV team have given an apology to Gretton Parish Council for their failure to notify us the works were due to commence so that we in turn could inform residents.
· The NNC EV team confirms that consultation cards were distributed by hand on 29th May, a tracking map was provided of the delivery route taken by NNC’s EV team.
· The NNC EV team confirm that they received only two responses, one in support and one in objection. The primary concern was loss of parking.
· The NNC EV team confirm no parking restrictions will be introduced at the Southfield Road site in the immediate term. Any vehicle can park in the bays alongside the chargepoints
· The NNC EV team welcome residents enquiries via [email protected]
· A decision on installations on the High Street or Craxford Road is still pending

Gretton Parish Council continues to have further questions on the matter which we will be pursuing with the NNC EV team, we will share further updates with residents as soon as we are able to.

As the Chair of Gretton Parish Council , I feel its a shame that I need to be writing this.

The Parish Council is made up of Volunteers.
They all take time out of their busy lives to make the village a better place.

As a Parish Council, we have very little clout. This is something that genuinely shocked me when I joined.
Potholes ? We can only report them, just like any other villager, we don't have a direct line to department.

When it comes to the budget for the Parish Council, this a huge time consuming project, items like grass cutting take a huge amount out our funds.

We are required to find the most cost effective method. Which as we all have seen, doesn't always work. But our hands are tied.

But I do not expect these issues to become a personal attack on Parish Councillors.

I will not tolerate this. These people are giving up their time for you ! If this continues, then the Parish Council will become a poisonous chalice that no one wants and the hard work of all those before and now will have been for nothing.

Even having " personal visits " to a councillors home is totally unacceptable.

There is ways of communicating with us.

If you really feel strongly about something, work with us, not against us. It will be far more productive.
