Police officers are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Parkland Gateway in Corby town centre on Monday, April 13.

The incident occurred between 2.45pm and 3pm as a man in his 30s was walking past the East Midlands International Pool towards Corby Boating Lake and was assaulted by another man.

The victim in his 30s sustained head and facial injuries after being repeatedly punched before being struck with a bicycle several times.

The offender is described as mixed race with a tanned complexion, in his early 30s, about 6ft 1in and of a slim build with black shortish hair. We do not have a description of his clothing.

This is a busy area of Corby town centre and officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the assault or who may have caught the incident on dash-cam or filmed it on their mobile phones.

Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101 or alternatively contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

So the council have proposed knife amnesty bins to be placed around corby, the motion has been passed without much regard of community communication but I would like to hear of peoples opinions on this pro or con?

So here it goes…

1. I think a freedom of information request should be called due to the ongoing situation of non functioning CCTV Cameras around corby and the statistics of those that are functioning as opposed to the latter this will also go along with street lighting as that is an issue that has been addressed over 4 years ago.

2. Sharps bins are in the works and i feel this would produce a positive impact within the community due to the fact of so many being found by independent organisations this needs to be addressed so that clinical waste can be disposed of safely & of no danger to anyone.

3. Due to recent ongoing and recurring incidents within corby a more proactive approach from East Midlands Knife Amnesty CIC will be in place this includes.

: Knife sweeps at known hotspots
: Community engagement & outreach
: Reinforcing Bleed control Kits across the town
: Ground based foot work to help tackle the issues we are facing as a community.

This has been established since 2018 & will continue to do so it is a community based initiative and runs on a limited capacity but the issues raised so far will be addressed!

Anonymously handed into Northamptonshire Police at the corby cube today (FlickBlade) under the weapons legislation act of 24/25 these officers had no idea who I was and reiterated the fact that the amnesty bin is located on the third floor, this is proof that things can be done proactively yet safe at the same time with the most important aspect being upheld of it being done with anonimty.

I would personally like to post that we are in no way affiliated or supportive of the current proactive vigilante bigotry behaviour going on around our community, this is a weapons amnesty & is here to support the residents of our community for safe disposal and removal of offensive weapons I do this on now a limited capacity due to personal circumstance & the page is purely for admin/me to monitor, Advise and point people into the right direction Northamptonshire Police as they have OP-SCEPTRE In place and a local amnesty bin that is located within the Corby Cube.
