Riding for the Disabled Association We rely solely on voluntary help, fundraising and donations to deliver our services.

Established in 1968, Stratford upon Avon RDA is one of over 500 groups attached to the Riding for the Disabled Association but operates as a separate registered charity. The group is based at The Stable yard, Home Farm, Compton Verney CV35 9HJ where sessions are currently being offered on Monday morning and Tuesday afternoons. We rely on volunteers to support the day to day running and fundraising

activities of the group and more details can be found on our website. We provide support to either adults or children so if you have a disability whatever it might be then RDA could offer you an opportunity to meet new friends and enjoy yourself as well as enjoying the therapeutic benefits that horse riding can offer.

Congratulations to our 'Own horse participant', Daphne, who rode so well at her first ever RDA National Championships on her pony Jolene. She came 4th in her Dressage class and 2nd in the Showjumping Level 2 and also qualified for the British Dressage Para Championships being held in August. Well done 'Team Powell' and thank you for being a great ambassador for our Group.

Three equestrian organisations have come together to develop a Centre of Excellence for Equine Assisted Services in the South West.

Hartpury University, Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) and HorseBack UK have united to form a strategic relationship focused on advancing human and equine health and wellbeing through evidence-based practice, education, research, and innovation.

Introducing our new ponies Sonny, the piebald cob & Prince, who recently joined our equine team. They’ve been quietly settling into their new routine & have become besties! Today both ponies passed their RDA assessment with flying colours. They’ll now be gradually introduced into our sessions. Sonny is 17yrs old. He has a lovely quiet temperament & particularly enjoys being pampered. Prince is a cheeky character who has previously been with an RDA group. Welcome to the team guys!

What a fantastic team effort from Jaguar Landrover volunteers! They came for a second year, all tooled up and deep cleaned our ponies stables, painted doors, ceilings, walls and weeded our outside arena. Thank you so much David from 'Team Quality' for organising and Caterina, Iain, Marius, Tiago, Paul, Gary, Marcela, Julian, Razvan and Mohit. Your support has been amazing and we are so grateful.

Whether it’s learning new skills, or connecting with others through a passion for horses, we’re proud to share recent activities at Stratford RDA.
It’s always special to recognise our participants achievements, as they learn new riding skills & develop partnerships with their ponies.
Our recent volunteer tea party was an opportunity to get-together, chat … and of course eat cake. Our volunteers are the power behind everything we do. Whether it’s turning up early to “beat the heat” (you may remember the two week heatwave in May!) or staying on to help turn out ponies. Nothing is too much trouble.
It was a privilege to support Christine to realise her “wish to ride”, taking her back to days spent on her grandfathers farm in Ireland, surrounded by animals. Diesel was a star & Christine adored him. Her smile & enthusiasm was infectious…. another special SRDA occasion!

How lovely to see Jess so happy to receive a huge rosette and Endeavour certificate for her seamless transition to a new mount. She has already commenced a special relationship with Diesel and is enjoying riding him. 😊

This week we will be celebrating our amazing team of volunteers during International Volunteers Week. We do not have the words to thank them enough for all the hours they give ensuring our participants have a wonderful experience of being around horses.

It was a pleasure to welcome to the yard, Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Stratford upon Avon, President Steve Turner, David Taylor and Terry Abrey, so that they could see us 'in action' on such a glorious day and meet with our riders and volunteers. A big 'THANK YOU' for the donation of £500 to enable us to purchase new tack for our ponies. We are so very grateful for your continued support.

Attending the recent Stour Valley Lions presentation evening, was a truly uplifting experience. We were among several local community groups, to receive a generous grant, which will go towards buying safety equipment & tack for our riders.

As Spring arrives we have enjoyed getting out in the sunshine to ride in the outdoor arena & around the fields. At this time of year there’s also lots to do behind the scenes. Particular thanks to our tractor driver, David, who’s been busy maintaining the paddocks.
