Addington Fund A farming charity. Supporting farmers and rural communities, across England and Wales, in times of need since 2001.

Providing:
🏠a comfortable home
✋a helping hand when disaster strikes
🚜or a chance to build a future in farming. Addington Fund was set up in 2001 as the Churches’ response to Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD), when it distributed grants totalling £10.3 million to over 22,000 applicants. With our focus now on rural housing, we provide homes for families needing to leave or retire from the agricultural industry. In times of emergency and where hardship is evident, we continue to support farming families through Forage Aid. Addington Fund offers grants to farmworkers on low incomes through the George Stephens Trust Fund.

They say the only time you should look backwards is to see how far you’ve come.

Before our new tenants move into Whins Farm at the beginning of October, we wanted to take a moment to look back at just how far we have come. 🔑🐏

From stripping and re-roofing the barn and transforming the courtyard into a practical, usable space, to installing solar panels and a ground-source heating system, the transformation has been incredible.

We’re incredibly proud to see Whins Farm ready to begin its next chapter🧡

Earlier this week we were honoured to welcome Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Edinburgh, Patron of Addington Fund, to officially open our first starter farm, Whins Farm in Cumbria. 🧡

At this special event, The Duchess unveiled a plaque to commemorate the day and enjoyed a guided tour of the farm and its buildings, before handing over the keys to our new tenants, Kieran and Áine. 🐑🔑🏠

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this very special day possible.
