STATEMENT FROM CLAY CROSS PARISH COUNCIL: LOCAL PLAN CONSULATION IS LIVE - HAVE YOUR SAY!
The Publication Draft Local Plan 2024–2044 consultation is live NOW and is open until 11:59PM on Wednesday, 18 November 2026.
Please complete the consultation and ensure your views are known on this plan which will affect planning decisions in our area until 2044.
Clay Cross falls in the Southern area of the plan. The approximate number of proposed new houses in the Southern area is 5,241.
There are several development sites identified in the plan which are in our Parish, this includes land off Clay Lane, land adjacent to Coupe Lane, the site of the former Cannon public house, the former Biwater site, land behind Springvale Road, and land near to the Tesco roundabout.
We urge ALL local residents to visit the website below, review the documents there, and ensure you make your views known.

The easiest and quickest way to submit comments is online by using the link provided below.
If you cannot provide comments online, please contact North East Derbyshire District Council on 01246 231111 to request a Local Plan response form to be emailed or posted out to you.
A separate representation should be completed for each part of the Local Plan on which your comments are being made.

Clay Cross Parish Council have two North East Derbyshire District Councillors who are also members of the District Council Planning Commitee and the Parish Council have been liaising with the District Council regarding this Local Plan since early 2025. It has submitted its views, responses and objections on the proposed plan for our area. These comments can be reviewed here: https://www.claycross.gov.uk/documents/2133886

Clay Cross Parish Council also submitted responses opposing applications for the development at this same site in 2017 and 2019.
