What our Community Engagement team have been up to! ✨

The team has been as busy as ever - here are a few highlights from the past couple of months:

• a lovely trip to the Mexican Circus at Meadow Croft Garden Centre with our Voice group, kindly organised by our volunteer Lisa
• joining the Great Baddow Parish Council Celebration of Youth, celebrating the positive impact young people are making locally
• attending the The multi-schools council United in Diversity event, using our film The Coat to open up important conversations about mental health

And there’s plenty more coming up for the team over the next few weeks, too!

We asked our Voice group: what does Pride mean to you and those around you? 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

For many LGBTQ+ young people, coming out can be one of the most difficult journeys they face - but it can also bring a powerful sense of relief and freedom.

One young person shared how nerve-wracking it was to come out - and how they now finally feel like the person they’re meant to be.

They reminded us that being an ally means standing alongside others with kindness, respect and support. Celebrating all love, valuing every story, and helping create spaces where everyone feels seen and accepted.

Together, we all play a part in creating those spaces. 💙

Another fantastic year at Volfest – and hopefully a few more volunteers coming our way… 🤩

It was wonderful to be alongside so many incredible charities and causes during Volunteers' Week. Together, we’re all playing an important part in supporting our local community.

The weather was mixed, but thankfully the rain held off longer than we expected!

We loved chatting to so many of you at our stall (including Chelmsford Community Radio 104.4FM) – and seeing your guesses on how many hours our amazing volunteers have contributed to Kids Inspire in 2025! 💭

A huge thank you to Chelmsford CVS for putting on such a brilliant event. 💙

Our trauma responsive training is back next month 💡

How to help children and young people regulate to reduce stress, anxiety and overwhelm
📅 Wednesday 1 July | 4–7pm

For parents, carers, professionals and volunteers supporting children and young people

What to expect:

• Better understanding of what sits behind behaviour
• Insight into how trauma and stress affect the brain
• Practical, creative ways to support regulation

This interactive session is led by Sue Bell, a highly experienced therapist and attachment and trauma resolution specialist.

Because when we understand the “why”, we can respond differently - and that can make all the difference. 💙

It wouldn’t feel right to let Volunteers' Week pass without giving a little shoutout to Louise 💙😎

Louise is our Volunteering and Mentoring Project Manager - and while she’d much rather stay out of the spotlight, she’s a huge part of what makes our volunteer community so special.

So much of what Louise does goes on quietly behind the scenes. From interviewing and welcoming new volunteers and mentors, to carefully matching young people with a mentor who’s just right for them, to checking in, supporting and guiding those relationships as they grow - she’s at the heart of it all.

Because of Louise, our volunteers feel supported, confident and ready to make a real difference. And that impact reaches so many young people and families.

This Volunteers’ Week, we’re not just celebrating our amazing volunteers, but also the people like Louise who make it all happen. ✨

Sharing some special messages for our wonderful volunteers this Volunteers' Week 💙✨

Thank you to every single volunteer who supports Kids Inspire and champions children’s mental health.

Whether you’re supporting young people directly or contributing behind the scenes, your role truly matters. Every hour you give, every skill you share, and every act of kindness helps create opportunities, build confidence, and make a lasting difference in the lives of children, young people, and their families.

We simply couldn’t do what we do without you. ✨

A proud moment for Kids Inspire today! 🤩

We’re delighted to share that our CEO and Clinical Director, Sue Bell OBE DL, is a co‑author in Fatima Whitbread MBE’s powerful new book.

Sue was invited to contribute a chapter reflecting on her personal journey - the experiences that shaped her and ultimately led to founding Kids Inspire.

Fatima describes the book, which brings together 20 co‑authors including entrepreneurs, leaders, coaches and changemakers, as:

“The Strength of Resilience is not just my story. It’s a celebration of people who have faced life head on and emerged stronger.”

It’s a privilege for Sue to be part of this book - and an incredible opportunity to shine a light on the work of Kids Inspire. 💙
