As Father’s Day approaches, we’re sending a huge THANK YOU to all the incredible Dads who work and volunteer across Farleigh Hospice. From caring for patients, tending our gardens, supporting bereaved families, stewarding at events and keeping our offices running smoothly - their dedication helps us provide the care our patients and families rely on. We couldn’t do it without them!
Sarah Glew, our Chair of Trustees, told us about why her father, Trevor, who volunteers in our Witham Full Circle store, is so special, to both her and Farleigh Hospice.
“Everyone who meets my dad Trevor, is instantly met with his warmth and care. He is truly one of life's special people. Having dedicated his working life firstly to nursing, and later, chaplaincy at Broadmoor secure hospital, my Dad thrives on helping and looking after people. This was recognised in 2003, when he was awarded an MBE by the then Prince Charles. A very proud day for myself, my Mum and sister. As a father, grandpa, and husband, he is always there for us all through the good and bad times offering support, love and wisdom.
"When the Farleigh’s Full Circle homeware shop opened in Witham, I knew that volunteering there would be a perfect for him. His love for French polishing and furniture restoration has been a real asset to the team, and he has really enjoyed meeting new people and being useful.”

We cannot keep the doors of our shops open without dedicated volunteers like Trevor. Could you spare a few hours a week to help out in one of our stores? No retail experience is needed, as we provide full training, guidance, and a friendly team to support you. You don’t even have to be a dad!
