We provide care for any illness that is considered life-limiting (including c

ancer, neurological diseases, and chronic heart, lung, and renal diseases), both in our Inpatient Unit and in our patient’s home environments. With approximately 44% of our yearly running costs being funded by the local NHS, we rely on the support and goodwill of the local mid Essex community to contribute to the over £21,271 it costs to provide our services each day.

As Father’s Day approaches, we’re sending a huge THANK YOU to all the incredible Dads who work and volunteer across Farleigh Hospice. From caring for patients, tending our gardens, supporting bereaved families, stewarding at events and keeping our offices running smoothly - their dedication helps us provide the care our patients and families rely on. We couldn’t do it without them!

Sarah Glew, our Chair of Trustees, told us about why her father, Trevor, who volunteers in our Witham Full Circle store, is so special, to both her and Farleigh Hospice.

“Everyone who meets my dad Trevor, is instantly met with his warmth and care. He is truly one of life's special people. Having dedicated his working life firstly to nursing, and later, chaplaincy at Broadmoor secure hospital, my Dad thrives on helping and looking after people. This was recognised in 2003, when he was awarded an MBE by the then Prince Charles. A very proud day for myself, my Mum and sister. As a father, grandpa, and husband, he is always there for us all through the good and bad times offering support, love and wisdom.

"When the Farleigh’s Full Circle homeware shop opened in Witham, I knew that volunteering there would be a perfect for him. His love for French polishing and furniture restoration has been a real asset to the team, and he has really enjoyed meeting new people and being useful.”

Sarah is pictured with Trevor on her wedding day.

We cannot keep the doors of our shops open without dedicated volunteers like Trevor. Could you spare a few hours a week to help out in one of our stores? No retail experience is needed, as we provide full training, guidance, and a friendly team to support you. You don’t even have to be a dad!

It’s Pride Month!
We’re excited to share that Farleigh Hospice will be at Essex Pride on Saturday 20 June in Central Park, Chelmsford, celebrating LGBTQ+ life in Essex.
Just like Farleigh’s care, the Pride event is for the whole community. It’s not just a party; it’s a chance for everyone to come together and embrace equality and diversity.
Come and meet our staff and volunteers at our stall from 12–6pm. We have glitter tattoos, an amazing collection of pre-loved clothing, and you can leave a message on our special blackboard to be displayed at the Hospice Building.
We’d love to see you there!

This we say THANK YOU to our incredible supporters.

Thank you to everyone who supported our annual summer street collection in Chelmsford on 6 June. The day raised an incredible £2,545.14, thanks to all the shoppers who kindly donated. Special thanks go to our fabulous fundraising team, volunteers, choirs and location hosts who made the day such a success: Chelmsford City Council, High Chelmer, Farleigh Community Choir, The Sound Collective Chorus, Barnes Farm School, Funky Voices, Men2sing and The Sing Space. Your support means so much - thank you for making a difference.

Thank you to Saul Wells and Alfie Lambton for taking part in the Suffolk Backyard Ultra Festival on 6 June raising an incredible £2929 between them. The Suffolk Backyard Ultra is a last person standing ultramarathon hosted in Thetford Forest, where competitors run a 4.167 mile loop every hour. Huge well done to Saul and Alfie pictured here after completing 50K.

Thank you to David Peplow for his many years of dedication supporting our Springfield Open Gardens. Come rain or shine, David is always at the start point at The Boswells School welcoming visitors, selling event programmes and offering helpful directions and local knowledge. We are so grateful for your time and commitment over the years - we couldn't have done it without you.
