InterAct is a charity based in Chelmsford, working in Essex, to improve life opportunities for children and young people living with special educational needs and disabilities. InterAct supports & enables people to fulfil their potential and to become more included in their local communities. Based upon:
- Reducing isolation, increasing participation, inclusion and independence.
- Promoting good mental health and changing attitudes to mental health and learning disability. We seek to help people at different stages in their lives: in learning, leisure, work, health and wellbeing, particularly at times of transition between these stages, when help is often needed most. We believe that ‘helping people to help themselves’ to increase their knowledge, choice and empowerment, builds their resilience, thus enabling them to cope with life events and to help others.
- We run several projects and activities for young people and young adults with disabilities, primarily learning disabilities/difficulties and autism, with a strong emphasis upon reducing isolation, and increasing independence & autonomy
- We deliver training, particularly focusing on emotional / mental health and wellbeing, and courses that help to build resilience in everyday life.
