We provide weekly youth clubs and fantastic holiday day trips across Essex.

InterAct is a charity based in Chelmsford, working in Essex, to improve life opportunities for children and young people living with special educational needs and disabilities. InterAct supports & enables people to fulfil their potential and to become more included in their local communities. Based upon:
- Reducing isolation, increasing participation, inclusion and independence.
- Promoting good

mental health and changing attitudes to mental health and learning disability. We seek to help people at different stages in their lives: in learning, leisure, work, health and wellbeing, particularly at times of transition between these stages, when help is often needed most. We believe that ‘helping people to help themselves’ to increase their knowledge, choice and empowerment, builds their resilience, thus enabling them to cope with life events and to help others.
- We run several projects and activities for young people and young adults with disabilities, primarily learning disabilities/difficulties and autism, with a strong emphasis upon reducing isolation, and increasing independence & autonomy
- We deliver training, particularly focusing on emotional / mental health and wellbeing, and courses that help to build resilience in everyday life.

We hope everyone has had an amazing summer! ☀️ After a very busy six weeks of holiday activities, we’re excited to say that our 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗔𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺-𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗯𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟳𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 🎉

☀️𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗮 𝘄𝗿𝗮𝗽 𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀☀️

What a way to finish an incredible summer!

🦉 𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 – We visited Maldon Zoo, where our young people were able to get up close and personal with some of the wonderful animals and enjoy everything the zoo had to offer!

🌊 𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 & 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 – We spent two amazing days at Mersea Island Festival! Our young people tried their hand at learning new musical instruments, braved the big swing, bounced around on the trampoline and took part in lots more fantastic activities!

A huge 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗞 𝗬𝗢𝗨 once again to everyone at Mersea Island Festival for the amazing work you do, and to all the wonderful volunteers who gave their time and helped make the days extra special for our young people. 💙

🎮 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 – To finish off the summer, we had a visit from the Gaming Bus! We played lots of fun games, spent time together and enjoyed a lovely final day of our Summer Holiday Activities.

And lastly, the biggest 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗞 𝗬𝗢𝗨 has to go to our wonderful InterAct team. 💙

These holiday activities simply wouldn't be possible without our amazing staff and volunteers. From supporting our young people, driving minibuses, joining in with activities, keeping everyone safe and dealing with everything that comes with six very busy weeks – 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲!

We hope all of our InterActers have had an amazing summer and made lots of wonderful memories along the way. 🥰

Unfortunately due to the “Great British Summer”coming to an end to make way for thunder storms & rain this weekend, we have made the decision to postpone this event until October, for a “Family Harvest Festival 🍅🥬 🎃. Roots Allotments This will include a contingency venue, in place, just in case of adverse weather -date TBC very soon.

Please accept our sincere apologies to all those families that had booked to attend this event, we will be in contact with the harvest festival date for you to rebook, and we look forward to seeing/meeting you all in October.

InterAct are hugely grateful to AABIE Charitable Initiative for awarding us a generous funding grant, which will support a new and innovative project in partnership with Chelmsford Community Radio 104.4FM

This exciting initiative will provide valuable opportunities for young people and young adults with SEND, helping them to develop confidence, communication skills, creativity and real-world experience within a supportive and inclusive environment. We truly appreciate AAB - Business Advisors investment and belief in the potential of young people, and we look forward to making a positive and lasting difference in our community.

InterAct’s Saturday Club runs every 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗱 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 at 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲 in Colchester.

☀️ We’re halfway through the summer holidays… but the fun isn’t over yet 🌈

We’ve already had some brilliant adventures this summer, and there are still lots more InterAct Summer Holiday activities to come! 🙌

Coming up, we still have:

🌳 Go Ape – treetop challenges, zip wires and plenty of adventure!
🌱 Roots Allotment – gardening, nature activities and time with friends
🤸 AirHop – two hours of bouncing, jumping and fun
⛳ Bear Creek Adventure Golf – putting skills to the test with some friendly competition
🐾 Maldon Promenade Zoo – meeting the animals and enjoying time outdoors
🎮 Game Wagon – a gaming-filled day with friends!
