InterAct

We provide weekly youth clubs and fantastic holiday day trips across Essex.

InterAct is a charity based in Chelmsford, working in Essex, to improve life opportunities for children and young people living with special educational needs and disabilities. InterAct supports & enables people to fulfil their potential and to become more included in their local communities. Based upon:
- Reducing isolation, increasing participation, inclusion and independence.
- Promoting good

mental health and changing attitudes to mental health and learning disability. We seek to help people at different stages in their lives: in learning, leisure, work, health and wellbeing, particularly at times of transition between these stages, when help is often needed most. We believe that ‘helping people to help themselves’ to increase their knowledge, choice and empowerment, builds their resilience, thus enabling them to cope with life events and to help others.
- We run several projects and activities for young people and young adults with disabilities, primarily learning disabilities/difficulties and autism, with a strong emphasis upon reducing isolation, and increasing independence & autonomy
- We deliver training, particularly focusing on emotional / mental health and wellbeing, and courses that help to build resilience in everyday life.

🎙️✨ Together Club Goes Live on the Radio ✨🎙️

Our Together Club (19–25) is starting an exciting new project with the amazing Chelmsford Community Radio! 📻

We've been given the opportunity to create our very own radio show, and we're kicking things off with a mystery story called The Mystery of Spooky Hill 👻🔍

Throughout the project, our young people will learn how to:
🎙️ Create and record a radio show
📝 Work from scripts and develop characters
🎧 Create sound effects
💻 Edit audio recordings
📻 Produce content that will be broadcast on the radio!

📍 Meeting:

🚌 Pick-up from Chelmsford College: 3:15pm
📍 Meet at ARU Chelmsford: 3:30pm

☀️ 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗔𝗰𝘁'𝘀 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗼𝗼𝗻 ☀️

Our Summer Holiday Programme is in its final stages and will be available for booking very soon! 🎉

InterAct offers supported community activities and youth clubs for young people with SEND aged 8–18. We also have a limited number of 1:1 supported places available, and parents and carers are welcome to join in too.

🌞 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗘𝗡𝗗 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 🌞

We have a limited number of spaces available for young people from low-income families or those in receipt of free school meals through InterAct's Summer Holiday Programme. Lunch will be provided, and young people will need an 𝗘𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘅 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝘀 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 to access these places.

💛 At InterAct, co-production is a big part of what we do. We love hearing from young people and their families, so why not get in touch and let us know what activities or days out you'd like to see this summer? Your ideas and feedback help shape our programmes.

We also offer supported days out, community clubs, and meet-ups for, 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗘𝗡𝗗 helping them build confidence, independence, friendships, and life skills in a fun and supportive environment.

🌟 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝗪𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗳-𝗧𝗲𝗿𝗺 🌟

Our May half-term holidays are now complete, and what a fantastic week it has been! 💛

🏰 We started the week with a trip to Leeds Castle, where we enjoyed the beautiful lake, watched the amazing birds of prey, and took a walk through history while exploring the stunning grounds.

🦁 On Thursday, we travelled to Africa... well, Africa Alive! 🌍 We got up close to some incredible animals, including the magnificent big cats and a rhino, and experienced the sights and sounds of the African wilderness.

⛳ We finished the week with a trip to Rascal Bay, where our young people enjoyed a round of crazy golf filled with laughter, friendly competition, and plenty of fun. We then headed back to Galleywood Youth Centre for a Mario Kart tournament 🎮 before relaxing together with a movie 🍿.

A huge thank you to our amazing staff for making the week possible, and to all of our wonderful young people and families for joining us. It has been another half-term full of fun, friendship, confidence-building, and memories that will last a lifetime.

Yesterday, our 𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 (19–25) headed off to Adventure Island for a brilliant day out by the seaside!

We braved the sunshine, tackled the rides, shared lots of laughs, and made some fantastic memories together 🌊🎡 From thrilling rides to enjoying time with friends, it was a wonderful day all round.

It’s always amazing to see our young people building confidence, independence, and friendships while having fun in a safe and supportive environment 💛

🌟 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗔𝗰𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗮 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗯𝘀 🌟

🍨 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗱𝗼𝗻 and 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗺𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱 have been keeping cool by making delicious ice cream sundaes, as well as planting some beautiful flowers to brighten up the clubs.

🕯️ 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗻 have been getting creative with candle making and whipping up some amazing dairy-free cheesecakes.

🍪 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 has also been enjoying some sweet treats by baking cookies, as well as making the most of the lovely weather outdoors.

🥤 𝗟𝗲𝘅𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗦𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 have been blending up some yummy smoothies and enjoying time together.

It’s been fantastic to see our young people building confidence, learning new skills, making friendships, and creating wonderful memories along the way 💛
