Basildon Borough Council are running their last The Crunch session of 2026, where residents of the Basildon Borough Council area can dispose of bulky household waste at mobile collection areas.

To find out more about bulky waste collections outside of the Basildon area, please check your local council's website and socials.

Throughout the year, our teams spend thousands of hours out in our neighbourhoods, keeping them clean and tidy. A big part of this involves removing fly-tips, which is where people dump waste somewhere illegally.

Never miss a bin collection again with the free Loci app

Get helpful reminders about what needs to go out and when, straight to your phone. Loci keeps track of your local waste collection for you, and sends you simple notifications. It helps you avoid overflowing bins or late-night checks of the council website.

We recently attended the Tpas Resident Scrutiny Conference with some of our engaged customers, including Fatou.

Reflecting on the event, Fatou said, "One of the most powerful messages I took away from the conference was: scrutiny is not about us against them; it's about working together to make things better. I'd love to see more residents empowered to take part in scrutiny, particularly those who may not always feel confident enough to speak up."

Our online repairs service for former CHP customers has resumed. Yesterday, we removed this service as a precaution to investigate potential cybersecurity vulnerabilities.

The investigation has concluded and no issues were identified. Thank you for your patience and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.

We’re aware of a cybersecurity vulnerability currently affecting websites worldwide. We’re investigating the potential impact on our systems and have taken some systems offline as a precautionary measure. This includes online repairs booking, so please call 0300 555 0500 to log repairs, including emergency repairs, but we will let you know once this service resumes.

At this stage, we believe the majority of our systems remain unaffected, and we have no evidence to suggest that any customer data has been compromised.

We’re continuing to investigate and will update customers as soon as we have further information.
