Carrick Connect

Carrick Connect Free Mentoring & Tutoring services for young people 9-25 years
Bespoke projects focusing on young people's needs.

Carrick Connect was formed in November 2014 by Tracey & Jonny Ewart. Their vision was to provide a warm and safe environment in which young people can truly be themselves without judgement. After a decade we now have our very own premises, where we can run some of our bespoke programmes from. Connect 2 U - This is a free mentoring service for young people up to the age of 25. Connect with the Home

less - in connection with Belfast Homeless Services
Connect 4 - Our free tutoring service for Key Stage 3 twice a week
Future-bound - Our brand new Primary Schools Project aimed at easing the transition to 'Big School' for P7 pupils along with tackling everyday issues such as Drugs & Alcohol abuse, Anti-Social Behavior and Self Confidence issues.

Good morning folks and Happy September 🥰
Just a little update on our up and coming programmes with starting dates and times.
Our Futurebound programme will begin again on Wednesday 2nd September at Carnlough Primary School and will run every wednesday for 8 weeks. The fourth school we will be facilitating our futurebound programme in will be Woodlawn Primary School beginning on Thursday 3rd September. This will also run every Thursday for 8 weeks. We have been busy preparing for the next school term and look forward to meeting our new P7 children.
Our "Food for Thought" tutoring sessions will commence again on Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th September, 4-6pm and will run through to early June 2027. We are delighted to bring o board a new volunteer for our Wednesday session and will welcome her to our team very soon.
Our 10.12 craft club will begin again on Tuesday 15th September 330-530pm until Christmas 2026.
Our Greenisland after-school homework club will begin on Monday 14th September from 330-530pm and will run through to the end of June 2027. Our Boardgame Cafe was a great success and it has been great getting to know all our children that will be attending our after-school homework club. It has also been great to meet parents and we are delighted that they are happy to work alongside us. I will be meeting them all one to one throughout September alongside teachers of all P4-P7 classes.
September is in full flow with all the prep and planning. Summer is over and we're ready to get stuck in.
If anyone would like any more info on our programmes please do email myself on [email protected] or send us a private message 🥰

Ps we have 4 spaces left for our after-school homework club, book in fast to secure your child's place 👇

And it's a wrap on our summer boardgame café at Greenisland Jubilee Hall. It's been a full on busy fun 5 days getting to know the children who will be attending our after-school homework club starting on 14th September.
On request today was two stories, Beatrice Potter & Steven Irvin from our little people big dreams series. It has been encouraging watching this group be so attentive. Burger and chips went down a treat with some on it for seconds. Much Thanks to Weavers Cafe - Ballycarry for cooking and delivering our meals .
We wish all of our children the very best as they embark on the new school year and we look forward to supporting them on monday afternoons ...

❤️
As we mourn the amazing Dolly Parton we remember her uniqueness, her smile, her life in which she lived doing good for others and always wanting to make a difference. She had an incredible presence. What a legacy to leave behind. She was so very loved 🩷

One day and it will come to all of us, be remembered for simply being YOU 🥰
Throw love around like an endless supply of confetti ⭐

I woke up heavy and then remembered we have work to do. And that always helps me. We must take up the joyful task of being more Dolly. Being more ‘them’. Whomever it is you miss. That’s the way. Dolly threw her kindness, love and uniqueness around as though the supply was endless because it is. She made it herself.

💛🩷🕊️

My love to anyone finding this hard. It is hard. You’re finding it just as it should be. ###

This is from ‘larger than life’ in my new book The Art of Being Easily Pleased.

The lovely Dolly Parton has passed away - she was such an advocate for children’s reading, giving away millions of books to children through her foundation.

In memory, we’ll be giving away 50 books to families* from tomorrow to Saturday.

The love of reading is the greatest gift

*one per family, maximum value 9.99, until we hit 50 copies.

Today at Boardgame cafe we played Air Hockey, there was some competition. We also hand painted some great little animals and enjoyed the story about Cristiano Ronaldo. Dinner today was sausage roll , chips and beans which seemed to be their fav 👌

We also may have the longest loom band, we def need to bring a measuring tape to get it measured.....
