FUNDED DIY COURSE BY MID AND EAST ANTRIM

This is a free programme taught by Building It Better NI. It will be available to residents of the Mid and East Antrim council area. To qualify you must be unemployed or on a career break, wanting to return to work or explore a new career. This trade skills workshop is available for any women of 17 years of age or over.

📢 Dementia UK Admiral Nurse clinics will be returning to Carrickfergus

📍Location- Carrickfergus Nationwide Branch (14 Market Place, BT38 7AW)

📅 Date- Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th of October 2026

A wide range of topics can be covered in appointments, from anyone concerned about their memory (pre diagnosis), family carers or people living with dementia who require information/advice/support on symptom management, discussing social care support / legal issues / finances right to end of life symptoms and grief. People may book to avail of emotional support, whether that is a person living with a dementia diagnosis or a carer who is caring for someone living with dementia. The appointment is tailored to the person's needs at the time.

Appointments are 45 minutes in length and you do not have to be a Nationwide customer to attend.

Forward Focus commencing 2 November 2026

This FREE four-week practical photography programme is for participants to learn new skills, enjoy good conversation and explore fresh perspectives through the lens.

Whether you use a digital camera or your phone, every session offers relaxed, structured learning to build confidence and creativity.

Programme Structure

Session 1 (02/11/26): Getting Started and Understanding Your Equipment

Session 2 (09/11/26): Capturing an External Image

Session 3 (16/11/26): Capturing an Internal Image

Session 4 (23/11/26): Capturing a Memory

All sessions will be held in Carrickfergus Community Forum 10am – 12pm

Who can register?

To apply you must be 18 years of age and over and live in the Mid and East Antrim borough. Preference will be given to those who are economically inactive, long-term unemployed or under-employed (working less than 16 hours).
