Brandon Trust in Cornwall

Brandon Trust in Cornwall This is the official page of Brandon Trust in Cornwall. We provide individualised support to autistic people and people with learning disabilities.

We believe that everyone should be free to live their life the way they choose. Brandon Trust provides support to children, young people and adults with learning disabilities. We also support autistic people. The Brandon Trust in Cornwall page aims to build a local network and community for people living in the county. In the UK today, there are 1.5 million people with learning disabiliti

es. Despite significant developments in the last 20 years, people with learning disabilities are still restricted by many aspects of the modern world; less than 7% of them for example have a job. At Brandon Trust we're striving to change this. We inspire the people we support to set themselves free so they can reach for their dreams and be all they can be. We provide support and have a wealth of experience in working with people with complex needs whose behaviour sometimes challenges the environment in which they live, or with profound and multiple learning disabilities. In partnership with the people we support, we can shape the future for people with learning disabilities. We are striving to build a connected society through the following ambitions:

1. Ensuring people we support are connected in their community and wider society.

2. Encouraging and equipping more people we support to live in their own homes.

3. Ensuring that everyone with a learning disability has the right and the capacity to have their voice heard.

This Learning Disability Week, we’re celebrating the lives, achievements and contributions of people with learning disabilities, and recognising the work still needed to make healthcare fairer and more accessible.

Over the past year, we’ve been working to make our services more accessible, inclusive and equitable for people with learning disabilities. Including setting up a Learning Disabilities Working Group, improving how we identify and record reasonable adjustments, expanding staff learning opportunities, and reviewing how we share information in more accessible ways.

We're grateful for our growing collaborations with Sirona care & health and Brandon Trust for supporting our progress.

There's still more to do, but we're committed to listening, learning and working together to ensure people with learning disabilities receive compassionate, personalised and accessible care.

A recent visit for individuals in Camborne to Build‑A‑Bear in Portreath it was a huge success. Everyone had a fantastic time choosing and creating their own bear, adding personal touches and plenty of smiles along the way. Afterward, they enjoyed a delicious lunch in the café, making it a perfect chance to relax, chat, and spend quality time together. A wonderful social gathering full of creativity, connection, and fun.

𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗹𝘀.
For Learning Disability Week, we’re celebrating the powerful question: “Do you see me?”

At Brandon, this isn’t just a theme for one week - it’s how we work every day.
From Jordan taking the lead at his first festival, to Nikki thriving in her paid role at Elm Tree Farm, to people building friendships, skills and confidence, we’re proud to support people to be seen, heard and valued for who they are.

💛 A very special reunion 💛

This week, we had the absolute pleasure of supporting a truly heartwarming moment…
After 20 years apart, one of the lovely ladies we support was reunited with her father, who travelled all the way from America to see her!
The day was filled with smiles, laughter, and lots of catching up. They spent time shopping together, sharing stories, and enjoying a lovely lunch – making some very special memories along the way. 🛍️🍽️
It was a truly emotional and joyful day, and we feel so privileged to have been part of such a meaningful moment. 💕
Moments like this remind us just how important connections, relationships, and family are.

A walk on a beach, sand shifting between your toes, is one of those deceptively simple experiences that hits all the senses at once. Here is an individual being supported by one of our Penzance teams at a local beach 👣🐚
