Clouded yellow rescued from one of our poly tunnels yesterday, loads of silver Y and very thin looking painted ladies - They look like they’ve been through a lot!

High temperatures and south-easterly winds this week have been bearing migrants to our shores. You may have noticed an abundance of Painted Lady and Silver Y while out and about, and perhaps a Humming-bird Hawk-moth or two. There have also been more unusual sightings of Clouded Yellow (normally a late-summer species) and Striped Hawk-moth in the county. Whatever you spot, don't forget to record!

A limited number of freshly cut bouquets will be heading to our Camborne town shop for around 2pm today!

Thank you so much to everyone who came along to our Underwater Wonders Day yesterday and to all our staff and trainees for supporting us with getting ready, putting up signs, preparing the cafe, baking, organising the craft activity and running the cafe & events. We had so many happy visitors - and for those of us up at the pond, we never tire of seeing the excited face of someone seeing a newt for the first time. It's just magic!

🐸☀️We were lucky with the weather - not too hot, not too cold and the creatures that we found confirmed that our pond is pretty healthy & diverse. Hooray!

At the end of the day, as we packed the pond dipping things away, we saw an emperor dragonfly laying her eggs on the pond - we haven't had many of this species emerging in recent years, so it is great to see that they are returning again.

How was your day? Please share your photos if you are happy to do so, and let us know what you enjoyed about the day. Did anyone take any photos of their cakes? As always, we are so busy, we don't get much of a chance to take any photos!

Finally, our thanks to Cornwall Wildlife Trust for attending and we must shout out to St. Austell Brewery & Farming in Protected Landscapes, who gave us sufficient funds to re-build our deck and hide as well as purchase all of our wildlife viewing equipment - it made the day so much more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
