Thank you everyone for all your input on our post seeking feedback on events - can't tell you how useful it all is. We will be taking all this to our next meeting, and are looking at a few other ways to get help too.

A few running themes in there - the timings have cropped up a lot, so will def factor that in. Better advertising is an obvious solution and we will consider how to do that within our modest budget but there are some great ideas in here. Later/more reliable train/buses is outside our control obvs but would be lovely.

We're a charity and the events committee is a team of volunteers with limited time but so much work goes on behind the scenes to make cool things happen here (and we wish all our posts got the exposure/engagement that one did without paying to sponsor it!!).

Following our decision to sadly cancel Malavita, and a good few months of struggling with dwindling ticket sales, we really need your input!

Events make up a considerable proportion of our income, and it is because of them that we are able to subsidise cheaper rates for community clubs, activities and events etc.
So we really need to make these events work!!

So… over to you, good people of Calstock and beyond!

- What would encourage you to buy tickets for events in advance? (We already charge more on the door).

- How can we get the word out more widely with our shoestring marketing budget?

- What sort of events/bands do you want to see more of? Less of?

- Any other thoughts/observations?

Also…

- How can we petition the rail gods to run a later train back to plymouth on a Friday and Saturday? 🚂

We would really value your thoughts, either here or DM us if you’d prefer.

Thank you 🙏

*** Malavita Saturday 13TH June CANCELLED ***

Sorry folks, and thanks to those who shared and helped spread the word... we hung on as long as we could but low ticket sales for Malavita! + DJ Weatherman Sounds mean we have no choice but to cancel.

All ticket holders will be refunded in full in the next couple of days.

Please support live music by buying tickets in advance if you possibly can - it's a lifeline for grassroots music venues.

This Saturday 13th June - we need your help to make it happen! 🙏

Malavita are a 8-piece reggae latin funk powerhouse, bursting with fun and fresh, genre-defying grooves. Their mission is dancefloor fission! And special guest DJ Weatherman Sounds is a firm favourite at Calstock Village Hall.

Only problem is, despite our best efforts ticket sales are looowww and unless we can cover costs by this Wednesday we will have to consider pulling it. That would be such a shame, because we know lots of people will probably turn up on the night - but it's a risk we can't take as things stand.

£16 for adults, £11 for under 25s (£1 booking fee applies).

The booking link is in the comments, and we'd LOVE it if you could share far and wide to help us make this banger of a night happen. The forecast is looking amazing if that helps swing it 🌞
