We promote social inclusion, independance and life skills by teaching English, maths and IT in our classroom, gardening, machine maintenance, woodwork and cooking. By being part of COGS Prepares 4 Life CIO, people with a learning disability can gain skills, confidence and opportunity. We use gardening, woodwork, machine maintainance and independant living skills such as cooking and shopping as the

medium for people to gain these vocational and life skills. By being part of COGS Prepares 4 Life CIO, the gardeners become more able to socially interact, have a much higher profile in their community and feelings of self worth are raised.

James has edged and weeded around the beds today, George has planted parsley, he also saved a large moth from drowning in one of our watering cans. We googled to see what sort it was and he was over the moon to find out that he had saved the life of a Poplar hawk moth.
Wayne has done a fabulous job of hand trimming two small hedges on the allotment area, its looking very neat now.
Well done lads! Fabulous work today

Over the matter of a couple of weeks, various attendees have all had a hand in making a buddy bench and, so far, one of three picnic benches that have been commissioned for various schools in the area. They have used a variety of tools, showcasing their skills and capabilities, and have worked great as a team helping each other out.
Well done to all involved! Very impressive work indeed!
