Club members spent a pleasant day at the Bridport Community Charter Fair meeting many good people from other organisations, local residents and visitors. They spread the word about Bridport Rotary's support for many needy causes in our local community as well as for those nationally and world-wide.
The West Bay Beach Wheelchair project featured on our stand and we were delighted that two of their volunteers, Kate and Annabelle, joined us during the day. Details about the project are at https://bridportandwestbay.co.uk/beach-wheelchair-scheme/
We were also pleased to welcome a Rotarian from District 52 in Beijing, China. She was attracted to our Gazebo because she recognised the Rotary wheel. It was a very pleasant encounter but translation proved to be tricky!
The Charter Fair celebrates the granting of Bridport’s Market Charter 773 years ago by King Henry III in recognition of the town’s rope-making industry, and Bridport’s Citizens’ Charter, reflecting the principles of the 1998 Human Rights Act, and confirming Bridport becoming the UK's first Rights Respecting Town in 2018.
